Mine is from former Twins Annoucner Halsey Hall

During a Twins game in the late sixties the camera was showing a cuddling couple out in the empty bleachers at the old Met.

Halsey Hall unknowingly said…

“Ah theres a nice couple. “He kisses her on the strikes and she kisses him on the balls”

All you could hear was snickers and giggles from the announcers losing it for the next five minutes.

I remember once hearing one of the Bills' radio announcers refer to a "jail-bait" blitz before quickly correcting it to "jail-break."

Montanans know that some of the more obscure towns in the state have some pretty hard names to pronounce. Chris Byers is the longtime sports anchor in Billings, but I can still remember his very first sportscast. He was in charge of reading the scores from the various high school football games around eastern Montana and not doing a great job at the pronounciations. By the end of the list, you could hear the newsroom laughing so hard and Byers tried to keep it together, but soon, he also was laughing. The final score that he read, the way he pronounced it went something like this, "And WyBox beat, oh I don't know, Eekahlala", which even broke the normally stoic news anchor on the set. Pretty classic.

The Bleyleven faux pas reminded me of a hockey call many years ago when during an NHL playoff game someone stole the puck on a break away, went in on the goalie, shot and the the announcer yelled, "He hit the f-----g post!" That was probably over 35 years ago and I remember it like yesterday.xnodx
