"At the end of the game, the last five minutes, I've never been in a building that I've heard so loud," said Adam Burish, who scored a third-period goal. "I've been to concerts, sporting events -- there's nothing I've experienced as loud as that.

"We couldn't hear what coach (Joel Quenneville) was saying. Guys were relaying it. It was like a game of telephone on the bench. Guys were relaying what he was saying all the way down the bench. There was a time when they were playing some kind of loud rock music. You couldn't even hear what song was playing. It was pretty cool."

which one was he supposed to stop in Game 2?? The power play goal where DET had 2 screeners in front of him...The Breakaway where we couldnt get the puck in deep and handed it to cleary...Or the the 3-1 in OT off the turnover where Nick had absolutely no chance...

Yes the power play where he had a clear view and no deflection. Hell the damn thing almost hit him in the mask. Hossa put his stick up but it never touched anything but the net and his Gatorage bottle.

He allowed 2 easy goals in Game 1 and 1 in Game 2. I think the defense has played like horses*** especially Seabrook. It seems that everytime he makes a mistake it costs us on the scoreboard.

Great run for the young Hawks. They'll learn. With players like Toews and Kane, they'll remain contenders

Red Wings-Penguins, the rematch. Should be one heck of a series xnodx

I'm biased, but that doesn't even need to be arguable. You can make a good case that they're the best organization in pro (at least North American) sports. Eighteen playoff trips in a row. Four, and now maybe five, Stanley Cups. But as I said, I'm biased. :)

I think the NHL is doing the Wings a dis-service by starting the series Saturday now...Datsyuk hurting, Lidstrom hurting, Ericsson with an apendectamy, basically playing 4 defensemen...Pittsburgh has a real shot to steal 1 if not 2 in Motown

Right now, the only possible contender would be Godfather Lou's system in New Jersey, but certainly the last couple of seasons have put Detroit ahead. Two of the best run organizations in any sport

It's tough for Detroit, and you'd love to see both teams at full strength, but since the NHL is set on starting the series on a weekend, it's either play Saturday, or wait 10 days, which is far too long of a layoff. They do get 2 full days off, plus most of Saturday waiting for the start of Game 1, so they'll have some time to heal xtwocentsx

There must be something booked at the Joe to have to rush the start of the series

No, this is NBC's doing

They apparently don't want the Finals to interfere as much with their summer TC schedule. Saturday has been the preferred starting day of the week since the postseason began. It'll be a tough go for Game 1, but Game 2 on a Sunday night could be solid. The big concern would be if the Lakers and Nuggets go to Game 7, which would also be on Sunday

Whatever the reasoning, these are ratings ploys. They weren't going to wait to start the series on Monday or Tuesday just for the extra days off....

As a side note, very few of these arenas book events during these weeks, especially one like the Joe where there's a reasonable expectation that the main tenant (the Red Wings) will be using them at the time. It can certainly cause some snafus like Yanni in Pittsburgh (forced the two games in two cities in two nights scenario with the Pens and Caps) or the WWE in Denver, but those aren't overly common, I would think
