Williamsport High School graduate Nick Adenhart, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, died early this morning in a car accident in Fullerton, California, according to a family member.

Three people were killed in the crash and another person was seriously injured.

Authorities are blaming the three-vehicle accident on a motorist in a mini-van who ran a red light at East Orangethorpe Avenue and South Lemon Street.

KTLA is reporting a second victim in the crash is somehow connected with the Angels, they didnt specify if that person was among the other two deceased or the two injured.

Sad story. Apparently the guy who caused the accident is being charged with Manslaughter, Felony Hit & Run and a DUI. It always seems like the people who cause these accidents are the ones that walk away. Doesn't seem fair.

How am I overreacting? I'm just making an observation. Don't be a nit.

no, that's not what I meant at all. (sorry, should have phrased it differently).

I absolutely despise drunk drivers. Because they kill innocent people

The Police Officer speaking at the Angels press conference said the driver who hit the car has been charged with felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter... the officer added they may charge him with murder.

One of my areas of practice is municipal court and I do some DWI defense. This is a pretty bad one.

His Blood Alcohol Content, or BAC was nearly three times the legal threhhold for drunkenness (0.08) which means this was no inadvertent act, either. One is pretty smashed at at BAC of 0.14 or 0.15 and he was apparantly up near 0.24. And he was driving on a license suspension for DWI to boot!

Damn right it should three counts of murder.

I enjoy a cocktail as much as anybody, but....xnonono2x

I saw where if he was convicted on ALL counts, it would be 55 years in prison...THAT ISNT ENOUGH driving on a suspended license because of another DUI, he should be facing life for each count murder...this country's laws are way to relaxed

Just realized when watching the news last night that he was a former Cedar Rapids Kernel (I forget they are associated with the Angels).

This is the crazy thing, he was eventually charged with murder rather than vehicular manslaughter, at nearly triple the legal limit.
