What are the odds the Red Sox end up missing the postseason? Seems somewhat likely to me...thoughts?

With the Rays looking to repeat their performance of a year ago and the Yankees adding Texiera and doing what they do...could the Red Sox miss the postseason?

It all starts with Opening Day...

Game One: vs. Tampa Bay Rays, Apr 6 2:05pm ET

Its no longer a complete failure for the Yanks or Sox to miss the playoffs.... The AL East is now a three man show and it should stay that way for the next several seasons.

That said it would be disappointing if Boston missed the playoffs, but if they can manage to stay as healthy as last season (hich wasnt really that healthy) they should make the playoffs once again.

I will add one last thing.... I think most people would say that in 2009 anything less then a World Series appearance (a win isnt required) would be a bust for Boston, just getting into the postseason isnt enough anymore in Boton.

Glad my Dynamo thread brought a shot back at me :p

At the rate we're going we could launch a Boston vs Houston rivalry.

Sure you have the upperhand in soccer.... but thats it.

They definitely could miss the playoffs. I'm a Red Sox fan, but I'm glad the Yankees have reloaded, and I hope the Rays prove as tough as they were last year. A three-team race for, at most, two playoff spots will make for a very exciting season. Bring it on. xnodx

Lost those two NBA finals in the 1980s to the Celtics too with the Rockets...

Who knows, perhaps football will begin to fall in the Texans' favor? Would be nice! xnodx

The Houston area certainly deserves some football success.... Maybe 2009 will be a big step forward for the Texans

I think the Sox are the going to finish 3rd, although if that starting rotation is healthy and on top of their games, they could win the division. 1st-Rays 2nd-Yanks 3rd-Sox
