Bearkats set for first scrimmage of Spring
The Sam Houston State Bearkats put on the full pads earlier this week and are about ready to start hitting each other in more of a game setting.
The Bearkats will hold an 80-play scrimmage on Saturday morning, their first of the spring. The Bearkats will hold two sets of 25-play scrimmages and then break for some work in the kicking game. They then will have a goal line scrimmage and then run some plays coming out of the end zone.

The two biggest questions...
1) What can we expect at the QB position from Randolph and Welch?
2) What differences will we see due to the new coaches, particularly Stoker...?

And since I know you guys are wondering about our QB situation...
Randolph finished the team portion of the scrimmage 9-of-14 for 241 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also threw scoring passes of 11 yards to senior Jason Madkins and hit Armstead in the left corner of the end zone from 33 yards out.

The defense is learning...
Stoker came in late and guys are learning this new scheme of things. I think the defense is going to be a bit further behind the offense because of the late transition. As long as they are still not learning by the time SLC play rolls around, we'll be okay.

From Joseph Duarte...
Running back Chris Poullard returned to practice Monday after missing some time this spring with a strained knee.
