FCS Playoffs Netted Prefit for JMU

HARRISONBURG - It’s not BCS money, but James Madison turned a small profit by hosting three rounds of the NCAA Division I-AA football playoffs this past season, according to the university.

Figured finalized last month show that JMU took in $37,301 on the three games, mostly in ticket sales, but incurred $22,462 in additional costs because of housing and meals for the athletes during the school’s Thanksgiving break.

That translated into a $14,839 profit.

Wait - the playoffs can be profitable besides the amazing soft benefits of winning a national championship or the exposure on the ESPN family?
