Big Sky Cancels Media Kickoff

In an attempt to save money during these challenging financial times, the Big Sky Conference member institutions recently voted to cancel the 2009 football Summer Kickoff in Park City, Utah.

Some of these Media Days are bad ideas. It may behoove some mid-major conferences that do basketball media days to just do a large conference call. In fact, it may get better attendance and more coverage for the conference than doing a media day event in a city that is hard to reach.

In the Southland, all cities are pretty reachable from any point in the conference. In a league such as the Big Sky when you have to fly to many locales, this is the way to go. Conference call!

The SIDs are already mailing out the media guides as is to the media throughout the league.
