USA FOOTBALL TO PLAY N.C. STATE; JAGS ANNOUNCE 2009 SCHEDULE

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Joe Gottfried announced Tuesday the school has signed a three-game contract with North Carolina State as well as the school’s first-ever football schedule, one that currently includes a total of seven games all slated to be played in Mobile at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturdays this fall.

There is a possibility the school will add one more road contest that would be announced at a later date.

They just announced their 2009 slate, which will be an exhibition schedule of games. I've been keeping tabs on Lamar, ODU and others and have not seen this occur.

USA, which will be an FCS for a few years, has already lined up an FBS game for the 2011 year as they will hit the field against North Carolina State. It's a 2-for-1 deal that will see the Wolfpack come to Mobile, Ala. down the road. That's pretty nice...

Word is that South Alabama will play a SUN BELT conference game in 2009, when they play mostly prep schools, junior varsity and club teams.

Only thing is, it will be a Sun Belt school which does not have football and has a club team - New Orleans.
