Yep - only one of the top five pitchers in the MLB currently (and over the last few years) who would probably have 15-25 more wins if he played on one of the top five teams in the big leagues...

Go figure...he must really suck!

He is NOT one of the top five pitchers in MLB currently. He's not even top five in the NL. The five best pitchers in the NL are:

Tim Lincecum
Johan Santana
Brandon Webb
Cole Hamels
Jake Peavy

I think he was saying hes of all the pitchers in MLB that could have 15-25 more wins over the past several years if he played for a better team, hes in the top 5 of those pitchers.

Of course, thats debatable.

Guess Red Sox fans are used to putting too much weight in March, it's all about "chasing history", got to keep it going in the pre-season when games don't really count...?

xnodx One of the best this decade. I couldn't care less what he or anyone else does in the WBC. It's a pre-season, warm-up, exhibition tournament, and I just can't get caught up in it.

Going by the body of work in this decade, I'd say Oswalt is among the top five starting pitchers in the game, along with Santana, Halladay, Webb, and Sabathia.

7.92

Also, Sabathia this decade is 117-73... not bad, but you leave off a name that has gone 117-63 this decade and delivered three World Championships xnodx

True, Schilling does belong there . . . I guess I was only thinking in terms of active pitchers (and in any case, Sabathia is indeed the guy I'd bump out to make room for him, keeping Oswalt in).

Which is why we'll never win it and continue to let the national past time slip away. Can't fathom why'd you go into a tournament not planning to win it. It's ridiculous.
