The University of Central Arkansas Bears sent their second football player in as many years to the Edmonton Eskimos this week when Eric Ware signed a contract with the Canadian Football League team.
Ware, a senior wide receiver from Little Rock Parkview, signed a two-year deal with the Eskimos on Thursday night. He joins return specialist/defensive back Tristan Jackson (UCA, 2007), the Eskimos starting returner last year who led the CFL in punt return yards.
Ware, who ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash during last week’s Pro Day at UCA, also runs track for the Bears. He holds the school indoor record in four events, the 55- and 60-meter dashes and the 55- and 60-meter hurdles.
The Eskimos, who had scouts at several UCA games in 2008, were impressed enough to offer Ware a contract on the spot on Pro Day.
