I'll try to update this as I have the chance. Once again I have sorted out all the wrestlers form the FCS schools. If I missed anyone let me know!
Sorted by weight class and then seed, after that in no particular order. I will update matches by result only (no scores)
WBD/LBD win/loss by dec
WMD/LMD win/loss by major decision
WTF/LTF win/loss by technical fall
WBF/LBF win/loss by fall
Wfor/Lfor win/loss by medical forfeit
Wdef/Ldef win/loss by medical default
Once a wrestler has been eliminated they will be separated within the weight class from those wrestlers still active.

Nice job. I'll be flying out Thursday a.m. to St. Louis and will update any noteworthy matches, especially those involving our Brown & White Grapplers. I hoping for a Top 20 finish this year. Best shots at All-American status are Craig and Rey, imo, with Ciasulli a darkhorse.

No NDSU entrants
The wrestling team has disappointed since their entrance to DI (don't know why :( )

I'm sure it has nothing to do with fishing in a pond that is dominated by Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State & Nebraska.

I was also really surprised not seeing any NDSU entrants. I had to go back through the brackets to see if I missed them. It seems liek I may have missed someone from Gardner-Webb but I could not find them. Just checked out their web site and it looks like just heavy Porter.
Every year I look at the Lehigh draws for the tournament and think rats he has a tough draw ... always forget pretty much everyone has a tough draw. They don't call it a meat grinder of a tournament for nothing.

Who do you think will beat their seeds??
My list will be pretty EIWA centric I realy don't know much about all those ODU guys.

Back in the day (80's) , DII national champs were allowed to wrestle in the DI, and NDSU had some guys place in the National Tourney, In the final days of DII NDSU had a couple of 3/4 time National Champs who would do fine at DI. They also had guy (Lewis) who wrestled for NDSU for a couple years and then transferred to Minnesota and was a multiple All-American. I don't know if they are getting the same quality guys as they did, and some guys (like Mooney, who won 3 Greco, and 1 Freestyle (with two-runner up finishes) national championships) who haven't lived up to expectations. It is still early in the transition though... so hopefully things will turn around.

You got that right. Now, everyone is REALLY good. The top 33 in each weight class. You can get a mismatch or two if you're lucky, but that rarely happens after the first round. I still remember what Cooperman did a few years ago after losing early and wrestling all the way back for third place--8 bouts in 2 1/2 days. Almost more impressive than winning the title!

Bucknell had a great EIWA. Rendos at 165 is impressive to me, as is Marble at 133. They would be my picks for upset potential. No BU wrestler is seeded.

The first day of the Tournament is over and the big 'blowout' expected by the Iowa Hawkeyes has not occured. Instead there is a dogfight underway among several teams.
Iowa State has grabbed the early lead with 32 points to Iowa's 30. However Nebraska and Ohio State are not far behind.. Huge log jam after them with about 10 teams all within 10 points of each other...including LEHIGH, Cornell, Hofstra and UNI. Tomorrow some separation will begin during the quarters, semis and wrestle-backs as placement points begin to accrue in addition to advancement points.
Lehigh is currently hanging around 10th postion with one wrestler still alive in the championship bracket--Zach Rey at 285, and only a freshman. Lehigh has lost only one wrestler from the tournament, Fisk at 133. The others are still alive in consolation bracket.
Some big upsets with two #1 seeds and a,2,3 and 4 seed all being beaten and the 1 seed (Lewnes of Cornell) and 2 seed (Jenkins of Penn State) are eliminated from the tournament already!! A number of unseeded wrestlers making some noise.
Going in, I would be very happy for Lehigh to finish in the Top 20, and if our kids continue to wrestle hard, I see that as being realistic. Grabbing an all-american or two would be sweet, and I think Rey, Ciasulli have the best shots, as well as Craig if he gets his head snapped back on. He mysteriously seemed to lose steam halfway through his second bout today. His consolation bracket looks 'doable' if he wrestles to his ability, but the way he lost in the second round today was disappointing.

Well, as previously reported, the Tournament has been blown open. Iowa, the heavy favorite is in second place to Ohio State. But a few other schools are right on the Hawkeyes' tail as well: Edinboro, Nebraska, Iowa State. A lot of upsets and unseeded wrestlers making noise.
Bucknell has a grappler wrestling tomorrow to try and finish third, but is guaranteed All-American status (top 8 in the weight class). Rendos at 165 lb.
Binghamton will also have their first All-American and Duke will have a finalist tomorrow night for the first time in their history.
My Mountain Hawks, unfortunately, hit the wall this evening as our final wrestlers were eliminated. Freshman heavyweight Zach Rey was leading the #3 heavyweight 3-2 with 15 seconds to go in the championship quarterfinals, but gave up a takedown with 5 seconds left. Lack of experience in avoiding the the tie-up, but a great tournament. Later, in the wrestle-backs he lost is sudden victory overtime to Pitt's senior heavyweight, 2-1.
So while we did a lot better than last year, 41st and 5.5 points to this year's 20.5 points and a probable finish around 20-25, it was disappointing in seeing how close some of the guys were. 3 of the other five bouts were lost by 1 point, which I think shows that while we have good yound talent, the kids have not learned how to be tough and aggressive. A lot of tentativeness out there when 'alot was riding' on the outcome early in bouts; and then after digging a hole, rallying and closing the gap but not leaving enough time or being able to work off the opponent's riding time. With only one senior leaving, the future should be bright.

Ngineer, How are those 9 dollar beers going down at Scottrade?? What hotel are you staying at?? I hope they gave you free drink tickets in the lobby...Also does the Friday's Shuttle Bus run during the Wrestling like it does for the MVC Tournament?? Have you hit Joey B's on the Landing for Pizza yet?

Ridiculous prices at the Scottrade...Even bottled water is $5. Most of the Lehigh contingent stays at the Drury at Union Station. Nice location--3 block walk to the arena, plus a great breakfast in the a.m. We'll be back here in 2012. Next year in Omaha at the Qwest Center and 2011 in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center (though some new name will likely grace the facility then) which should yield a great turnout for us.
Iowa stormed back this morning in the consolation placement wrestle-backs to grab the lead from Ohio State. Although OSU had three finalists tonight, they didn't have the depth to compliment. Iowa had only one finalist, a heavy favorite who was upset by the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, Caldwell of NC State, so the door would have been open. But OSU only won one championship, of the three finalists. Final rankings:
Iowa 96.5
Ohio State 92
Iowa State
Nebraska
Cornell
Edinboro
Missouri
Illinois
Wisconsin
Maryland
Lehigh finished with 20.5 pts placing around 27th. Bucknell's Rendos at 165 finished 5th, giving the Bison their first All-American since 1994 and helping the team to a top 30 finish.

No bus , but we had Metro Passes for the light rail that runs downtown. We took a tour of the Cardinals new ballpark this a.m. since we had no wrestlers going. Great time--we even corrected the tour guide on a few pieces of baseball history. Park is alot like CBP in Philly. No Joey B's trying to be good..actually did my laps in the pool in the evening. Went to some nice Irish taverns on Washington Street.

Yes, UNI had a nice contingent in the Scottrade Center. Fair amount of purple in the lower deck down to my right.
The 'word' is Iowa is travelling east to wrestle us next season. I'd love to get them inside Grace Hall, but I'm sure they'll hold it in the more spacious Stabler Arena.
