I agree, while still disappointing to go to (since teams have their heart set on the NCAA tournament) the NIT has really shaped itself into a very competitive tournament.

And they're not in the CBI or CIT, although Old Dominion and James Madison both got into the CIT (and got home games to boot).

I know that Wright State was invited to the NIT but declined. They would have been on the road for the opening round and this is finals week. Haven't heard if the same situation existed for the CBI/CIT.

I've noticed in some NIT games that the "name brand" basketball schools normally don't do very well. They consider the tourney to be small potatoes and tend to perform in a very lackluster fashion. The smaller schools from less powerful conferences are usually happy to be involved in some sort of post-season play and really give it their all. The NIT is a good place to root for the underdog.
GO RHODY!

the CBI and the CIT are pay to play Tournaments, so if you dont want to pay, you are not going to play

Only in the first round, really, that's where you kind of see "name" teams that don't care get knocked out. After that, though, everyone plays hard. 17 of the past 19 winners of the NIT have come from BCS conferences, and the two years where they didn't Memphis won one and they are pretty much an elite school in basketball (Tulsa was the other winner). Once the NIT gets to New York, it's mainly "name" teams.

Patty Mills just murdered WSU today...that guy is the real deal. Even though I would've liked to see the Cougs pull that one out a Mills/Curry match up in the next round should be fun to watch.

Boy was I joyful that WSU once again fell short. They get all cocky and lose to Eastern Washington to close out the FCS regular season, then they lose in the semis in the BSC tourney to Montana State and now get their asses handed to them by SDSU. xlolxxlolxxlolx

You had me really confused for a second...it took me a few times through that to finally realize that you were talking about Weber State.

Party over for us. A loss to Penn State finishes our season.
Oh well, thanks to Coach Baron and his son for an exciting season. It was fun.
