Stony Brook Football Inks Two More to NLIs
Seawolves Recruiting Class Grows to 29
March 12, 2009
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University head football coach Chuck Priore has announced that two more players have signed national letters of intent to play football for the Seawolves beginning with the 2009 season. Justin Blake (Piscataway, N.J.) and Matt Faiella (Freehold, N.J.) bring the total SBU 2009 recruiting class to 29.
Blake, a 5-10, 170-lb. defensive back, is a three-time letterwinner at Piscataway High School for head coach Dan Higgins. An all-county, all-area and all-conference selection in 2008, he made 53 tackles for the Chiefs while intercepting three passes and breaking up 12 other attempts. As a junior he was an All-Central New Jersey selection after making 63 tackles and six interceptions.
"Justin is someone that we have been recruiting throughout the process," remarked Priore. "We are getting a quality player who comes from a Piscataway program that is well represented with players in the Division I ranks. He is an athletic kid we hope can come in and be successful in our system."
A Super 100 All-State player, Faiella is a 6-2, 225-lb. linebacker that played four years for head coach Dom LePore at Freehold Township High School. An all-division, all-area and all-county selection as a senior, he set two school tackling records; tackles for a loss in a season and tackles in a game.
"We offered Matt early in the process and we are happy that he is coming to Stony Brook," said Priore. "He is a `Mike' linebacker that can run from side-to-side and can be very successful with our program."
