ORLANDO, Florida -- Manny Ramirez (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=2974) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=lad) finally reached common ground in their negotiations, according to a source close to the talks.
After multiple failed attempts, Ramirez and the Dodgers agreed to a two-year, $45 million deal on Tuesday.
The Dodgers announced last week that agent Scott Boras had declined the team's fourth offer to the star outfielder -- a one-year, $25 million contract with a $20 million player option for 2010.

I agree, I checked out on the story when he originally turned down the $45 million. How much money does one egomaniac need?

so what Boston wasnt paying him when he was there? lol they were paying him so much, teammates used to tell reporters that Manny would stockpile like 5 or 6 paychecks in his wallet before even bothering to cash them. must be nice.

I'm not standing up for Manny, he didn't go about getting out of Boston the right way, but he's gone now, let the Dodgers deal with his problems. This is similar to when Rodman was with the Spurs they always worried about what he was going to do in Chicago.

Grumpy Manny won't show until the 2010 season when he doesn't have a contract nailed down for 2011.

How about the month that he claimed he was injured in Boston last year before getting traded to LA.
I didn't say he wasn't worth the moeny, there is certainly reason for him getting paid $25M per year. But you can't deny the antics he plays without a contract the next year.

Everybody in the world knew manny was not injured.
Contract time is contract time.
If I was putting up the number's Manny was over all them years, and MGNT don't see fit to give me a contract while throwing money at everybody else, then it's hardball time.
This is business..............Not play for these guy's.xthumbsupx

Are you kidding me? Don't the teams do direct deposit? With that much money, I don't want a paycheck hanging out somewhere.

I knew guy's in the NBA and NFL that live here that used to do the same thing.
They would come home on a quick visit and have 3 or 4 check's that they have not cashed yet.
One guy had two, high 5 figure check's, in the console of his car and not 1 dollar in his wallet.
As long as their credit and debit card's work, sometime's it slip their mind if you can believe that.

Believe it or not, I have less of a problem with that because a hundred grand to some of these guys like Manny is nothing. My surprise is that they don't do direct deposit automatically. It just makes so much more sense unless I am missing something.

It is kinda weird. I've had direct deposit for 10 years now.

i know if I was getting $200,000 pay checks I would use direct deposit, but hey Manny is crazy and I think that has clearly been shown in recent years.
After all this is the same guy who went inside the green moster to take a leak during a pitching change.
