It was announced on Missoula news tonight that the North Dakota Fighting Souix are studying plans to go Division I and I-AA in football. The plans are backed by alumni and the athletic department. Looks like a done deal, probably an official announcement this summer.

That is awesome! If YSU keeps up with their belly achin' and WKU moves up to I-A, I would love to see some of UNI's old NCC foes (NDSU,SDSU and UND) join the Gateway. Could end up going from 1 dome to 3 domed teams in a hurry!

If it's a done deal, and they join the Great West with NDSU and SDSU... how can I-AA deny the Great West a playoff autobid?
This move could very well signal some seismic shifts in I-AA if true...

Isn't Northern Colorado going to the Big Sky next year?
The Great West is in big time need of more schools-- North Dakota would help

Sure it would help the GWFC but they can't afford to move up.

Your April fools joke is about 5 months too early Ronbo :p
Seriously though, North Dakota has been gloating ever since we moved to IAA 2 years ago. Nothing has changed, and there has been no further movement on their part besides forming a committee to take a possible look into DI and its fit with UND.
Furthermore, UND's conference, the NCC, requires at least 18 months prior notice to any movement out of the conference. If UND made the move, it wont be for another 2 years at the ealiest, but with their new AD, and alumni forcing the issue to keep up with NDSU, the move could be sooner rather than later provided DI is determined to be an approriate fit for UND and Grand Forks. One final note, UND officials have repeatedly said they would not make the move without a conference invitation in hand, so unless you know some inside info that I don't about the Big Sky expanding into a 2 division conference, the chance of UND making a decision anytime soon isn't very likely.
Just my :twocents:

D-II teams announcing they are officially transitioning is one thing, a D-II team announcing they are ONCE AGAIN STUDYING whether or not to transition is OTHER SPORTS. BTW, your use of NAZI is disrespecting.

Really? I heard he was going to conduct a study of every beer made, drink at least 2 cans-bottles, and then decide if beer would be his drink of choice!! :beerchug: xlolx
