Bout time they did that. He's terrible. Does that mean they have to eat the $9 million they owe him?

Yes, if another team picks him up they're only responsible for the league minimum, the Phils pay the rest.

Really the one and only blemish on the Gillick resume (or was he an Ed Wade signing?)

I don't care about the $9 million. I'm just glad he's "outta here!":D

Maybe the Mutts will pick him up...xcoolx

Ha maybe. But we already have our own versions: Tim Redding, Livan Hernandez, Tony Armas, etc. xrotatehx

Are the Phils still paying the bulk of Thome's salaray for the ChiSox?

Here's a good site for contract info:

It doesn't look like the Phillies have to pay anybody from before (except now Eaton)...Cot's does a good job of showing how contracts and get broken down and if there's incentives, etc.

Oh, so that's how they found the money to pay Eaton to sit on his azz at home.

No doubt the emergence of J. Happ and Carrasco and maybe even a revived Kendrick, along with picking up Chan Ho, made Eaton even more irrelevant than he already was.

Don't let the door hit your azz on the way out Adam!

I was about to buy a Phillies World Series Champions t-shirt back in November untl I realized that Eaton was technically still part of the roster and his name was on the shirt.
