Heading toward the 105th EIWA Wrestling Tournament on March 7-8, the preliminary team rankings based solely on predicted place finishing without accounting for advancement and bonus points are as follows:

1. Cornell 79 (8)
2. Lehigh 74 (8)
3. Penn 66 (9)
4. Navy 59 (7)
5. Army 41 (5)
6. American 39 (5)
7. Harvard 34 (3)
8. Bucknell 32 (6)

Under the new NCAA regulations for qualifying for the national tourney each conference will be 'awarded' so many automatic qualifier 'slots' in each weight class based upon the strenght of the weighted competition in each class. 278/330 weight classes will be allotted among the conferences, with the remaining 52 slots being 'wild cards' to be determined by a coaches' committee that will meet on March 11 to decide.

The two 'weakest' weights in the EIWA are 133 and 197 where only two slots have been allotted to the conference. That means that the third place finisher at those weight classes will have to make their way to St. Louis through the coaches' committee. On the other hand, 149 and 174 are 'loaded' weight classes and have been allotted 6 slots at nationals.

Got my tickets for the Palestra for March 7 & 8 and lookin' forward to some good slobberknocking grapplin'xthumbsupx

Lehigh seedings expected for the EIWA:

133 Jr. Matt Fisk (3)
141 Jr. Seth Ciasulli (2)
149 Sr. Trevor Chinn (3)
165 Jr. Mike Galante (3)
174 So.Alex Caruso (5)
184 Jr. David Craig (1)
197 Fr. Joe Kennedy (3)
285 Fr. Zach Rey (2)

Connor MacDonald will likely try and go on on wheel. When healthy, he would be capable of pulling off an upset here or there. But any points at 125 will be 'found money'. Bilodeau at 157 could also pull a surprise and at least garner some team points with his aggressive approach.
The 149 weight class is loaded with all top 6 wrestlers ranked nationally in the top 16: Kyler (Army #7), Saddoris (Navy #9), Chinn (Lehigh #11), Borshoff (American #10), Grajales (Penn #14), and LeValley (Bucknell #16).
The key for anyone to steal the team title from Cornell will be to pull an upset in a couple of the six weights where the Big Red are seeded either #1 or #2. Only Lehigh and Harvard have 3 men seeded either 1 or 2, while Cornell is 'front loaded' with six.
