What is up with the Citadel's basketball team? They beat the Crap out of Davidson 64-46!!! (in Curry's absence)

The Citadel could be very good in the future (if they keep all of those freshman and sophomores)

Just goes to show that Curry is more important to his team than any other player in the country.

Davidson's BracketBuster game with Butler could get UGLY if Curry isn't playing (and at full speed).

That puts a Davidson's shot of an at-large on life support. They were already iffy with an RPI of 50 before this loss with no good wins outside of West Virginia. Absorbing another home loss to an RPI sub-100 will definitely knock them out of the at large discussion for now. Unless the selection committee really values the cinderella run from last year it's SOCON tourney title or bust for Davidson.

He's mine too and he is also ASU(what is the last part of your name?)'s.

One of the things I like best about citdog is that he can also take a jokexnodx

We're not bad right now, actually.

Our kids will stay. Basketball has a pretty good retention rate at El Cid, and right now these kids have figured out how to win. They'll keep playing.

Do you think they're going to jump to the NBA? They're good but not that good.

The freshman who will arrive in August are rated as the top recruiting class in the SoCon. There is much reason for optimism on the banks of the Ashley.

Thing is, El Cit is 2nd in the SoCon at 13-4 (Davidson is 15-2). With a hurt Curry, El Cit could be the tourney favorites.

And to think El Cit was 1-19 in the SoCon last year. xeyebrowxxrulesx

Makes our two losses against them look better (one by 2 points, the other in OT)

Also, El Cit is one of the five teams who have been eligible for the NCAA tourney every year in it's 62 year history, but have never made it (along with Army, William and Mary, St Francis (NY) and Northwestern). In fact Only 34 of the 346 Division I schools have never been to the big dance.

If we win the SoCon tournament we obviously get to the NCAA tourney. I think we'll need to win the rest of our regular season games and get to the finals of the SoCon to get into the NIT. For some schools the NIT is a disappointment. For The Citadel, it would be a big deal.

NIT would be unlikely unless you finish as the top seed in the SoCon, but I'd think Citadel will have a shot at one of the other tourneys.

Not downplaying the rebound El Cit has made this year over last, but the Davidson win truly shows how one dimensional that team is. Curry has a few weeks to get back to speed, so the SoCon isn't a lock. Especially when lowly ASU basketball has taken the Cadets to the wire twice. I wish you luck - the Mountaineers will be watching it all on TV after the opening round of the SoCon xbawlingx

I didn't know that... now I'm rooting for the Citadel to win the SoCon (because GSU sure as hell doesn't have a chance).

I think the NIT would be a big deal for any team in the conference other than Davidson. Good luck. xthumbsupx

Actually I meant that the Citadel is OK by standards outside the Socon this year and will steadly become better and better.

Winning is the MOST important in the conference tournaments. That's why WKU is going for appearance #21 in the NCAA's if they win the Sun Belt Tournament. They have no shot at an at-large at the moment. With an RPI in the upper 60's and one marquee win against Louisville and bad losses to Murray State and Evansville. xbawlingx

Wins over Georgia, Tulane, Southern Illinois, and Alabama A&M is not enough to garner at-large consideration. If WKU would have beaten either Mississippi State or Florida State their resume would be much better.

Tis true, but I'm hoping they win at least 4 out of the last 5 and a few ACC tourney wins.

In order to get to the big dance, we will need to win the SoCon tournament, and that will mean that we need to beat Davidson again, only the next time they will have Curry.

Good luck with that one! Especially if Duke or North Carolina appears on Florida State's half. xeekx
