Great West expands again

the Great West has expanded its soccer affiliates to 3 new members.

Howard, South Carolina State, and Delaware State.

I like what this conference is doing, but the name just bothers me so much.

The Great West means anything west of Maine.

They are going to re-do the name. Just did not have time this go around.

Those schools are good additions for soccer. Glad that independents are slowly disappearing in all sports as it will give some Div I schools who have been around awhile, an actual chance to compete for national postseason appearances...

The Great West is becoming the conference for athletic programs that have had no place to go for conference affiliation. They are really filling a need in this area. Maybe filling that niche will assure the survival of the conference.

That kind of like what App's Field Hockey team is in. We're in the Northern Pacific Conference along with Stanford, Cal, Radford, Longwood, Pacific and Davidson.

Those are going to be some killer road trips.
