She becomes the first division one coach (man or women) to reach 1,000 wins. Pretty amazing. Only followed this because the local sports radio show has been talking all week how they thought her 1,000th victory would come on the night they played UGA.

I'm a UConn fan (for women's hoops, at least), but congrats to Summitt; it's an awesome accomplishment. Her team is having a down year (ranked only 17th at the moment--astonishingly low for the Lady Vols), but they'll be back.

Yeah, apparently. It's recruiting-related, I think, and unfortunately it's resulted in UConn and Tennessee not playing each other in the regular season anymore.

Amazing! Congratulations are due for a great coach who started the women's basketball program at UT and is the face of women's college basketball IMO. Before its all said and done, she could have close to 1,500 wins!

To put this in perspective, a coach would have to average 20 wins over 50 seasons to reach this milestone!!!

She has never had a losing since since starting with Tennessee in 1974, has never won fewer than 16 games, and has reached the 20 win mark every season since 1976-1977. Her career record of 1,000 wins and 187 losses gives her a career win percentage of 84.246%.
