I'm glad the NBA All-Star Weekend has continued to evolve into something much more than the dunk contest...I guess?

H-O-R-S-E has galloped into the NBA’s All-Star weekend.

The popular shooting contest will be part of TNT’s coverage of All-Star Saturday night, the network announced Tuesday. Three NBA players, who will be revealed later, will take part.

The competition will take place outdoors at the NBA’s All-Star Block Party in Phoenix on Feb. 14. The dunk contest, 3-point shootout and skills challenge are later Saturday night, and the All-Star game is Sunday.

This should be an exciting event, much more than the 2 or 3 ball event with WNBA players and NBA legends. I'm sure the contestants will show off some pretty creative stuff. I know growing up, me and my buddies used to think of some off the wall shots and we weren't close to half the athletes that these guys are.

I haven't read anything on this, but will dunks be involved? In other words, can you force somebody to match your dunk?

Steve Nash will win this event every year until he retires.

No, dunks aren't allowed (thank goodness).

Hopefully before long the dunk contest will be put out of its misery and this will replace it as the main event on All-Star Saturday (though I've always found the three-point contest more exciting anyway).

I can see how this might be cool if you were actually there in person (sitting in the stands, drinking beers, people watching, etc.), but not on TV. Probably about as exciting as watching poker on TV...it's exciting when someone goes all-in, but that's about it. So this might be exciting when someone makes a redunkulous shot or when it comes down to the final shot, but that's about it. xpeacex

So what was everyone's best horse shot growing up? I used to climb up on the roof and I knew the exact spot to bounce the ball off the roof and into the hoop. That was usually the only letter I would get on my neighbor...

Half-court shot. I don't know how, but I make it about 25-33% of the time. xrotatehx

IMO, this will be the most boring event... ever. How many games of horse has anyone played that have been exciting. To watch people stand around taking turns with shots... snoooooze.

also, my shots were reverse layups (when my friends couldn't do them) and I would pull out the half court back to the basket every so often.

Mine was stand behind the basket and shoot the ball over the backboard and make it.. I liked the half court shot as well.

left eye closed, standing on your right leg only, back to the basket, from the top of the key, left hand only, off the backboard

a rule for this NBA version should be you auto get a letter if you miss two of your turn's shots

Might watch this. Because it is new to the All Star Weekend, so it may be interesting.

I'd have to say this shot.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9qRNB4uZGU

.... I was not as amazing though, I was never on the fly and was just planted directly behind the board.

Didn't LeBron lose to a Joe Schmoe at one point in a game of HORSE

Garbage lineup. 3 that absolutely be in this are Nash, Rasheed, and Kevin Love.

Why don't they just have Tim Duncan, Carlos Boozer, and Yao Ming square off. I can't think of anything that would put me to sleep faster than watching those boring people play GEICO.
