View Full Version : Who else just doesn't care about any other sports besides FCS?

I used to like the NFL and NBA but now I don't like either. I'll watch games occasionally but that's about it. I don't even care much about the Broncos anymore. I got rid of my cable so no espn, foxsports, etc. and I don't miss it at all.

I still care about the NFL and MLB. I used to care about the NHL and NASCAR but quit within the past few years. I have never cared about the NBA nor will I ever. I enjoy the Olympics, simply for the fact they only happen every four years so I do not tire of them. I love high school football and basketball.

FCS and soccer are the only ones that I really "care" about, but I still enjoy watching NFL, college basketball, tennis, the Olympics, etc. But I don't have cable anymore, so I watch most of my sports online.

Though FCS is my favorite, I enjoy FBS football too. I wish it had playoffs, of course. But I enjoy it. Not all of it. Like, there are an awful lot of games on TV nowdays that I have no interest in. But every week during the season there are games I want to see. I also like watching Division II and Division III playoff games. And I like watching some of the Division II Gulf South Conference regular season games that come on from time to time.

Another thing I like watching is high school football when the matchups are good. High school football playoffs are, I think, great when the matchups are good. I like watching NFL playoffs after the college season is over pretty much too.

I'm kind of like others in that I used to be a really big NFL fan. My favorite teams was the Raiders back during their glory days. Started watching and pulling for them when Lamonica was the QB and continued through the days of Plunkett and Stabler. But pro football generally lost its luster for me sometime during the early to mid 1980s. Don't know if it's because the Raider declined or if it was the onset of free agency and rule changes like the elimination of bump and run coverage.

You should try College Baseball. It is very good.

You should try College Baseball. It is very good.baseball is that sport where the ball is tied with pink thread, they stand around while two people play catch, they have to wear big gloves to catch the ball, and they can't play in the rain/sleet/snow. Right? I hear a George Carlin sketch coming on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmXacL0Uny0 xlolx

Let's see, I have the Jazz to watch fall to end of spring. All four grand slams in Tennis. More golf than I should. Don't go out of my way to watch football, but I do watch plenty. NHL playoffs are always fun to watch. College basketball I'll watch. I do turn on Indy and Daytona despite not being a racing fan. I watched a lot of the Olympics this past year.

In the grand scheme of things, yes. However, it's the only thing I attend regularly. Haven't been to a Jazz game or Weber basketball game in years, and there's not much else to attend.

Not sure I see any connection with an FCS football program and the preferred sports of a 2003 alumnus...

Let's see...

For me, High School Football remains #1. (I'm a coach.)

FCS Football is #2.

FBS Football is #3.

NCAA Men's Basketball is #4.

Any level Track & Field is #5.

Sub-Division I College Football is #6.

NFL Football is #7.

High School Basketball is #8.

NHL Hockey is #9. (Grew up in Michigan playing hockey in the back yard and in the alley.)

NBA Basketball is a VERY DISTANT #10.

Any type of Baseball ranks right above sports like Soccer, Figure Skating, and Competitive Ballroom Dancing. :p

I follow a good number of Lehigh's athletic teams, though football and wrestling are top two priorities. After that the Phillies and Eagles get my attention, and then some of the local D3 and high school games.

I always thought it was weird when adults went to high school sporting events. Unless of course your son or daughter is playing, it's just strange to me.

Yes, every high school sporting event should have about 25 people attending, that would make it very enjoyable for the players. xrolleyesx

Yeah because the average person doesn't enjoy that stuff. If choral concerts were more entertaining, more people would go.

Could be, I don't speak for other Griz fans. But I do know I would rather watch Penn St. vs Texas Tech than William & Mary vs. Stephen F. Austin.

Well for me since finding this site FCS has overtaken the NFL. Having Redskins game snot shown up here in Baltimore has helped further than along.
I would rank it

1 FCS
2 NFL
3 FBS
4 MLB
5 NCAA Hoops
6 NCAA Lax
7 NBA playoffs
8 6-7 year old girls lacrosse/soccer
9 2nd grader girls CYO basketball

(and on nice spring/fall saturday morning, #8 gives #1 a run for its money)

1. I-AA
2. I-A
3. NFL
4. NHL
5. NASCAR
6. PGA Tour
7. US National soccer
8. MLB

Note that basketball does not register at all. xsmhx

Of course there are individual events that would take precidence over others (Masters, US Open, Olympics, Wimbledon...).

FCS is # 1 for me but I actually enjoy FBS, D-II and D-III as well.

These days the NFL looks to be more about marketing for sponsors than it does about football. Therefore, my interests in the NFL has subsided over the years. I personally want to vomit on the day after the Super Bowl when I hear people complaining or raving about the Super Bowl halftime show rather than about the game itself.

As for other sports, I'm really more into what I would call participatory sports rather than watching conventional sports events. Hiking/Backpacking & kayaking are my two favorite activities.

During the summer I love being at a local race track on a Saturday night watching auto races with my family. However, I feel NASCAR on television has degenerated to the same level that the NFL has. In other words it's more about the marketing of sponsors rather than the purity of the product.

As for soccer and golf...both should be banned IMO.

Classic citdog. When in 2007 The Cit finally beats FU in football by three in overtime, citdog is spouting off about how they came from behind by 35 points at half to win the game. :o

I like FCS football, FBS football especially the SEC and college hoops. Im also a big fan of college baseball and lacrosse ,two sports that StonyBrook is pretty good at.
I have lost interest in the NFL and was a big Jets fan for years but so much now. The NBA and the NHL dont interst me.
My nephew is playing high school football and wrestling so I go to his games and matches on occasion. He is a pretty good wrestler so I have been steering him towards Hofstra or Lehigh since his grades are off the charts in all honors classes.

For me -

1. Delaware Football (unless it's the playoffs, if the Hens aren't playing, I ain't that interested.)
2. Phillies / Rays Major League Baseball (if either of those teams aren't playing, I ain't that interested.)
3. Eagles / Ravens NFL Football (if either of those teams aren't playing, I ain't that interested)
4. All other Delaware sports (basketball, baseball, lacrosse, etc.)
5. FBS major bowl games (I don't have much interest until then)
6. College basketball, but only during March Madness time (I love watching the tourney and pulling for the underdogs.)
7. Golf Majors

With the exception of college playoffs / championships/ premier match-ups I really only care to watch / follow sports involving teams I root for. I never got into the NBA or NHL. xpeacex

No need to be embarrassed. It comes at a time of the year when it's just starting to warm up and turn green and Augusta is green on steroids. It's usually compelling from a competitive standpoint. It has fewer commercials than any other sporting event on TV. It has all the tradition of any event.

With the recent advent of HD, it's even better than before.

Sometimes being an ass about who you allow in has some benefits for the fans! It's hard not to watch the Masters - I was fortunate to get to see the Thursday/Friday rounds a few years ago and walk the course. Even in the rain, HDTV doesn't do the beauty of the course justice.

going to high school football games = stuck in high school? I wouldn't ever want to go back to that place again. I like to watch football regardless of the level.
