Well, the Eagles did a lot to help the Cards win. To their credit, Arizona made very few mistakes. A few thoughts about attending the game:
-U of Phx Stadium is "okay," nothing special. It's certainly a huge improvement from Sun Devil Stadium. Once inside the councourse, I really couldn't distinguish it from other modern stadia such as Chase Field.
-The Cards really need to establish more port-o-johns in the parking lots for tailgaters, particularly before a big playoff game. We were tailgating just outside Gate 2, and the closest port-o-johns were about 500 Yards away. Fortunately, we found a couple of F350's parked next to each other that hid us well as we pissed. Hell, a parking lot attendent even "covered" for one of the guys I was with while he relieved himself.
-It's always amazing to me how great a Pabst Blue Ribbon tastes at 9:30AM.
-The stadium was colder than I'd thought it'd be. It was in the 70's outside, but when I got inside, I was glad I brought a fleece to throw on.
-Since most Cardinals fans are merely front-runners, their attempts to derride the Eagles were laughable at best. The only chant I heard was "Eagles Suck!" I didn't hear many pro-Cardinals chants. But the best comment I'd heard occured after the Eagles first FG, which made the score 7-3. I was in the pisser and heard some idiot Cards fan say to an Eagles fan: "Yeah, well your team only has half the points our team does." Ladies and gentlemen, the results of Arizona's public education system!
-They needed more security/police there. As my friend and I were leaving, we entered the escalator kiosk and saw some meat-head in a Dockett jersey shoving an Eagles fan into a wall. Several people pulled the Cards fan back and the Eagles went down the escalator. Meanwhile, meathead follows him down and outside the stadium, pulls off his jersey like he's some tough guy and starts to follow the Eagles fan, who at this point is heading to his car. I grab the nearest security guy and pointed the situation out. I asked him to please call a police officer, as the meathead was going to start something. As I'm explaining this, meathead starts picking trouble with any person wearing Eagles gear. Unfortunately, the Security guy was some old f--ker who probably didn't even know what state he was in. He just stared at me. I was like, "Are you deaf man? That man over there is looking to start trouble. It's probably in everyone's best interest to have a cop talk to him!" Others came up and told the security guy the same thing. The old guy just continued to stare. WTF????
That meathead was the exception overall, there were no problems. A few loudmouths for both teams of course, but it was all jawing, no physical confrontations.
