Bucs coach John Gruden was just canned. This is very surprising, especially since it took this long. I wonder who they have in mind?

It was only a matter of time. People were threatening to not renew season tickets.

Right now I've heard the names of almost any coach you can think of.

He just didn't do anything - they were perpetually "pretty good"
but not quite good enough
and never as good as "the NFL insiders" thought they should be based on their talent level

Very surprising, especially at this point of the offseason

According to ESPN, they may already have replacements: Raheem Morris as Coach, Mark Dominik as GM (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3839578)

So far, we've had:

Raiders: Kiffen fired midseason, Cable as interim, currently looking
Rams: Linehan fired midseason, Haslett as interim, currently looking
49ers: Nolan fired midseason, Singletary as interim, then hired
Browns: Crennel fired (though he could stay as D-Coordinator), Mangini hired
Jets: Mangini fired, still looking (I think Rex Ryan is the favorite)
Lions: Marinelli fired, Jim Schwartz hired
Broncos: Shanahan fired, Josh McDaniels hired
Buccaneers: Gruden fired, Morris about to be hired?

Is Herm Edwards next from the Chiefs?

When I made this list, I could have also included:

Seahawks: Holmgren retired, Jim Mora hired (that's Jr, not his dad: Jim "Playoffs?" Mora)
Colts: Dungy retired, Jim Caldwell hired

That's 10 coaches, nearly 1/3 of the NFL's head men, gone at the end of the 2008 season xeekx

It could even be higher, with Edwards on the hot seat and it wouldn't shock me to see Marvin Lewis get the boot from Cincinnati (not likely, but not surprising)

And I'd trade every single fired/retired coach so far this offseason (and Herm Edwards in a second) for that baldheaded bum.

If you got Gruden he would make Tavares Jackson worse than he already is.

Just some info on Gruden: Only 3 winning seasons since winning the Super Bowl (including this seasons collapse losing 4 straight), 2 trips to the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl, 0 playoff wins after 02. Horrible December record (including Super Bowl Season),

Here's the St. Pete Times article announcing Raheem Morris (http://www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/article968412.ece)as HC.

Things I heard sports casters Mention about the NFL yesterday...

... McNabb could possibly be a Viking next year??? xnonono2x I hate speculation...

Also, after the Gruden firing, there are only two current coaches in the NFL who have won super bowl rings... soon to be three.

1. Travis's lord and Savior
2. The guy with the Red face who probably has a drinking problem.

They should grab Shanahan, or coax Dungy out of his newly announced retirement.

If we had Gruden, Jackson would probably be cut, the Vikings had a talented team but were plagued by Childress' horrible offensive scheme and his absolute love for mediocre/project QBs.

Whats even more sad is that he has been here for three years and the team has absolutely no clue on how to run a 2 minute or hurry up offense. If we are down by more than 8 points in the 4th quarter the game is over.

He would cut him, just play him until he tired of him and then put him in the "dog house" like he did Joey Galloway. This is the same coach that play Bruce Gradkowski event though he wasn't ready and did nothing with him the next year.

But if you think Gruden would make the Viks better then I wish you'd been witness the mess he made here.
