Do ya'll think this will fare better than the last league?

"The United National Gridiron League is entering an exciting new phase marching towards a February 8, 2009, kickoff. We will be unveiling our inaugural eight franchise locations and ownership groups over the course of the next few weeks."

The arena league had a TV contrcat and pretty good attendence and couldt make a go of it this year. I understand this league's expenses will be much lower but I cant see it lasting all that long

When the state of the economy effects a similar sports league like the AFL to the point where they cancel their entire 2009 season, how does this league expect to make it when an established and fairly popular league has already thrown in the towel (for this year anyway)?

It probably will last as long as the AAFL. Which is to say not long at all.

Well it's good to see Nick Hill getting another shot at playing somewhere after getting cut by the Bears, but this looks like it'll last about as long as any other off-shoot of football has, sans AFL.

I don't think they folded. They just pushed the start back to this year. Has anybody heard the status of this?

FOXSports.com has learned the United National Gridiron League has postponed its scheduled Feb. 8 debut until March 22. League CEO Marvin Tomlin said the delay stems from its primary investor withdrawing from his financial commitment.

"We are very disappointed considering we had everything in place from team rosters to coaches, general managers and stadiums," Tomlin said. "We will, however, use this time period to engage previous investors as well as entertain new ones."

The UNGL still plans to begin play with 48-man teams in eight cities: Dallas, Miami, Akron, Birmingham, Shreveport, Columbus (Ga.), Winston-Salem and Norfolk.

The Gator Reunion League is probably dead. I haven't heard much about it since they didn't start the season.
