FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State University head football coach Craig Bohl announced return specialist/wide receiver Shamen Washington has received an NCAA waiver of the five-year period of eligibility and will be eligible to compete in the 2009 season.
Washington, a 5-foot-6, 147-pound senior from St. Petersburg, Fla. (Boca Ciega H.S.) had two seasons of injury that were supported by medical documentation. He has not used a redshirt year. In 2006, he had an injury and didn’t compete.

Lets keep him out of spring ball and fall camp, so he doesn't get injured again.
Jeez.

Is he the smallest kid playing Division I football?

Hope he can have at least one great healthy year to cap off his Bison career.

Golly. I can't imagine what it must be like for a kid from Florida to go to North Dakota.
How did he even get recruited up there anyway?

I do not know, but he just might be the quickest. He is one hell of a kick returner.

Yes he WAS fast, I hope he didn't lose too much. Shamen was a very good player to take a punt or a kickoff and swing the Momentum, he was and I hope still Fun to watch!

You just caught the ball. You weigh less than 150 lbs. You look up and see several guys much bigger than you, bearing down on you, with their crosshairs set right on you. If you don't do something soon, it's gonna hurt. Bad. You'd better have something going for you. It's good to be fast and small enough to dodge hits.
Damn I look forward to seeing him play again. I think he'll do just fine. Injury may have slowed him down a pinch, but he's one season wiser, as well.

What were Washington's injuries mostly?
I can't help but think there was a clothesline tackle or two. :D

Knees.
His knees get injured if you look at him the wrong way.
Our turf in the dome no doubt caused a lot of wear on his knees.

Shamen is a small guy but he has been known to throw a good block or two during his career. For being 147 pounds he plays bigger than that.

He ran a 4.39 at his pro day last spring...
Like you said on of the best returners I have seen at this level...If healthy a game changer..
