Hellsyeah it's too early. I'm really nervous that EVERY national sportwriter is picking the Eagles to win. Many are picking them to completely dominate. I keep having flashbacks to the NFC Championship game against Tampa. Remember that one? The Bucs can't win in cold weather. The Eagles had owned the them the previous 4 meetings, etc... That was supposed to be a romp too.

Seriously though, I don't see how it's even possible for the Eagles NOT to win the Super Bowl.

Let's start looking past Arizona, who would you like to BEAT more the Ravens or the Steelers?

Either way though, the Eagles should win the Super Bowl. They have the payback factor on the Steelers from the previous time they met in the game.

Boldin: 1,038 yrds, 11 TD
Breaston: 1,006 yrds, 3 TD
Hightower: 399 yrds, 10 TD

McNabb: 3,916 yrds, 23 TD, 86.4 Passer Rating
Jackson: 913 yrds, 2 TD
Basket: 440 yrds, 3 TD (yup, he's the second leading receiver)
Westbrook: 936 rush yrds, 9 rush TD, 402 rec yrds, 5 rec TD

Eagles defense is slightly better, but look at those offensive stats! There's no way the Eagles can match up against such a high powered offense. xnonono2x

The Cardinals put up those stats playing some of the most god-awful defenses in the league. Of particular note, they played 4 games against the #30 Defense (Seattle) and #28 Defense (St. Louis). They played most of remainder of the schedule against middle-ranked defenses.

Don't be fooled. Philly's defense has been playing lights out since Turkey Day. That's why they're in the playoffs. Even in that loss to Washington, they were great. The only TD was given up on a 20 yd. drive after a turnover.
Kurt Warner is a freaking granite statue in the pocket. When you apply sufficient pressue, he drops like a stone. If Boldin is out, the Birds will double team Fitzgerald and dare Warner to spread the ball around.

I don't think that's the lesson at all - I think the lesson to be learned is that McNabb, as always, will just take us to the edge, and then never the promised land. Just good enough yesterday to be just not good enough. xsmhx

And the other lesson is that Andy Reid can't draft WRs. You don't win Superbowls with an undersized defense and none or only one good receiver at any given time.

Look at Kurt Warner's list of receivers over the years and compare it to McNabb's.

Warner: Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, & Az-Zahir Akeem (at the same time for several years); Larry Fitzgerald & Anquan Boldin (at the same time), Amani Toomer, Ike Hilliard, & David Tyree (at the same time)

McNabb: Terrell Owens & no real #2 in '04 (went to Superbowl); Na Brown, Torrance Small, Charles Johnson, Todd Pinkston, Freddie Mitchell, James Thrash, Greg Lewis, Billy McMullen, Jason Avant, Hank Baskett, Kevin Curtis, Deshaun Jackson

The best McNabb had were free agents (Owens, Thrash, Curtis)

I'm not in a McNabb bashing mood. I truly hope the guy can get to a team where he can win a retirement ring, like Chicago or Minnesota. He's been done a huge disservice the past 10 seasons playing for Andy Reid and this front office.

You can't fault McNabb that much, he's throwing to Hank Baskett, Jason Avant, Kevin Curtis.

That's the thing, though, I don't think you really can blame it on WR's at this point. Those guys were open all day (got to include DeSean Jackson as well). McNabb wasn't hitting the WR's he had. In the past, sure, he didn't have receivers, but that wasn't the problem against the Cardinals. Heck, Aikman kept pointing out how many times he missed receivers or didn't hit the guys in stride that would've led to much bigger gains. Yesterday was not a case of McNabb not having weapons to throw to, rather it was a case of McNabb failing to get the ball to the guys often enough or well enough for them to take advantage.

I agree with that, but a better receiver could make plays those guys can't, not every catch Fitzgerald made was easy. Now the last pass to Baskett, he'd have to be Elastic Man to catch, but some guys could make that play. That's my point.

As QB McNabb deserves some of the blame, but it's not all on him. I do think his time in Philly may be over.

Point is, if McNabb needs a slew of all stars at WR, at RB, and on the OL to win a Super Bowl, I'm sure a lesser QB could probably do the same with what would amount to an all-star supporting cast. Fitzgerald caught a ton of balls yesterday that were easy catches, and he got to catch many of them fully in stride.

Oh come on, that was pass interference!!! xlolx

His receivers were making huge catches, and the ones that GF is talking about are ones where McNabb threw the ball to where the receiver was and not to where they were going to be. Basket made a nice catch earlier in the game that if had of been thrown properly (instead of behind him) would have led to a touchdown if not a huge gain. I do agree that McNabb's time is most likely over in Philly... after all he got put through this year and what he ended up doing, not to mention the little help the Eagles organization has given him over the years, I could see him not wanting to come back even if offered a better contract.

Is it to early...

.... For Worthlessberger, Ward and Polamalu to book their trips to Disney world? Heck, they're the AFC champs, a conference far more superior to the NFC. There's no way a 9-7 team could possible match up against this behemoth!!! Worthlessberger wears a size 25 Superbowl ring... better make that two.

Besides, there's absolutely no way the Cardinals could ever over come this locker room tension. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3843834)
