When half of your conference is listed during an off year, you know its time to lose the Mid Major label. But, apparently not...

Oh well, if we can knock off Samford and Chatty this week, I think we'll make top 25 next week. I would hope.

xnodx I think the MVC and MWC are on par with C-USA and would be better if it weren't for the 10 ton gorilla that is Memphis. But I think mid-major is used to enconmpass conferences too generally. IMO, conferences like C-USA, the MVC, the MWC, and the A-10 are mid-majors. Whereas conferences like the Summit, Sun Belt, and the SWAC should be considered low majors.

Sun Belt? They were a two-bid league last year.
Would never lump them with Summit and SWAC. The SWAC is the lowest RPI conference in just about every sport. Summit is actually having a strong year, ranked #20 in Sagarin. Not bad...

MVC has been ranked 6-8 in RPI conference standings for the last 5 years or so. We've had as many as 4 bids into the tournament. SIU, Wichita State, and Bradley have all gone to the Sweet 16 in the last three years or so. Plus, we have been ranked ahead of the A-10 in conference standings (last year being an exception) for around 5 or 6 years.
The A-10 needs to be considered a mid major. Simple as that. Currently the MWC is 6th, SEC is 7th, MVC is 8th, and A10 is 9th.

In case anyone can't tell I hate SWAC basketball right now and I have felt this way for the last 5 years.

I disagree...I think the Valley needs to get off their a$$ and realize how far they've come and stop being part of things like the Mid-Major poll and BracketBusters. Neither conference should be considered Mid-Major.

The MVC absolutely needs to stop BracketBusters. It actually hurts our conference now. The top three or four teams will play great competition (usually Butler, Nevada, etc.), but the bottom schools get let with schools that kill our conference RPI.
As far as Mid Major is concerned, I can see both sides. MVC, MWC, A10, and CUSA are all on their own level, which is still a notch below the Big Six, but above everyone else.
