View Full Version : Poor Carolina Fans. Wasn't Yesterdays Loss Enough? Maybe Not

One thing’s certain — there will be plenty of voices in Charlotte calling for the team to bid farewell to Jake. Ever since Delhomme exploded onto the scene in 2003, there has been periodic whispers and concerns that he’s simply not good enough to be a high-end NFL (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/01/10/take-a-good-look-at-jake/#) quarterback.

If there was any doubt, tonight’s performance removed it.

And here’s something to keep in mind: At one point in the 2008 offseason, agent Bus Cook was privately saying that Brett Favre wanted to play (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/01/10/take-a-good-look-at-jake/#) for the Panthers.

Panthers don't win the division with Brett Favre.

Gotta give Jake some props for getting us to this game anyway. He's kind of a crybaby, and he completely imploded last night. He's had a good season coming off last year's surgery, but you hate to see him serve the Cardinals a win on a silver platter. Plus, nobody seemed to figure out that Fitzgerald was going to get the ball every time, and he had a monster game.

I hope Favre just goes out to pasture this year - enough with the soap opera. Carolina needs a solid backup QB to put some pressure on Jake to perform. It seems to have worked well for Warner having Leinart on the bench.

Carolina needs to draft a QB to push Jake and a DL to stop the run, then they should be pretty good.

Jake Delhomme >>> Brett Favre

Jake deserves his share of the blame for the loss on Saturday. But the coaching staff deserves more. When Bolden was scratched, they should have immediately adjusted and double teamed Fitzgerald. They didn't do that until the second half, and the game was essentially over by then.

I've always called Delhomme, Brett Favre without the talent. Now that Brett is old, Delhomme is Favre. It's a lateral move to bring in Favre. I was hoping the Pats didn't put the franchise tag on Cassell. Anyways, I've never been a Delhomme fan. I think he gets about 30% of the blame, 30% goes to the DC for not putting together a solid game plan, and 40% goes to the OC for abandoning the run so quickly. I told my dad before the game, if we have to depend on Jake, Cardinals win. The OC made sure we depended on Jake. What a joke...hope we can learn from this.

Travis, what you got against Carolina fans? How did the Pats do this weeked? xlolx

Look, fine, Jake played pretty badly Saturday night. It was another edition of "Dancing with Jake Delhomme" where he gets happy feet and dances around while looking for a reciever instead of setting himself to throw.

However, there was a thread on charlotte.com some time ago and it was pointed out that over the past 5 years the Panthers are 34-14 with Jake in the lineup and 5-11 without him. Now, I was impressed with Matt Moore last year in his limited playing time and I'd like to see the team do more to develop him, but right now Jake is the best that we have got.

They needed an option after INT number 3. They did not have that. Need a good QB to take over for him.

Matt Moore and Vinny Greenhead weren't exactly great solutions to the problem last year. Having an Aaron Rogers type player on the bench would certainly help (but then again, he's probably be starting for the cats).

Give Jake credit for coming out and saying that the loss was his fault alone. There are allot of guys there that would have said that "We" didn't play well. He came out and said he stunk up the joint and it was all him.

You basically are required to say it was your fault when you commit 6 turnovers. He had to take the blame and anyone else in his position would have too. So, I still give him no credit, for anything.

I will give him credit that I blame most of it on the OC. With "Smash and Dash" we ran the ball 15 times, 3 times with JS. That is ridiculous, and worthy of being fired. Absolutely no excuse for that, everyone knows we can't rely on Jake to win it. Come on!

we need a young QB that can move around in the pocket more.
