Is it better to talk about FCS football and have a few mistakes,
or to not talk about FCS football at all?

If it is someone that is PAID to discuss/cover the subdivision, then they should have their facts right (even though they far too often don't).
But if it's just someone starting a discussion, I'll cut them some slack.
Yes, I'd let them know about their mistake, but I'm not going to call them an idiot over it.

Again, this is the Basketball Great West. Of this group, only the two Dakota Schools play football. Add to these two Cal Poly, UC Davis, and Southern Utah for the 5 Great West Football teams.

Not only am I in favor of adding all the teams, I would really like to be able to play an FCS Dynasty with playoffs. I doubt very seriously that it would happen though.

Actually, if I read it right, there is the Great West for Football and the Big West for other sports. This is a mixture. There is a Great West for other sports (as listed) that started this year sans football. This comes across as a bit of a mess.

The Big West:
Cal Poly
Cal State - Fullerton
Cal State - Northridge
Long Beach State
UC - Davis
UC - Irvine
UC - Riverside
UC - Santa Barbara
Pacific

Can someone clarify if teams are moving around? How can there be 2 Great West conferences. What am I missing? Help!

Well I would love to have FCS in NCAA. I could use Wofford in dynasty. Sure the teams are weak on the game but I am currently using Vanderbilt who has a 62 overall and I have beaten the crap out of Texas (overall in the 90s) on All American difficulty. 62 overall was about what FCS teams were in the old Playstation 2 games

The list does not include the 2008 National Champions either. But who cares, I just took the poll and there are over 50 responses for "Yes" and 0 for "no". That's solid so far.

EA Sports = evil

Ex #1 = Ruining 2k basketball for us and forcing us to play March Madness
Ex #2 = dropping FCS from the football game

This guy took all the FCS leagues and listed the all-sports members of those leagues. Therefore no affiliate members but all the non-football members, plus FBS teams Army and Navy in the Patriot.

All Division I football playing schools should be in any future NCAA football video game with somewhat accurate stats, real stadiums (at least for the big names), and possibly even playoffs.

But if FCS is ever brought back they will likely never include anything beyond the "major" conferences with the same watered-down ratings, messed-up rosters, outdated uniforms and generic home stadiums as the older generation games had.

You think they would include FCS just to avoid having stupid generic games against "IAA East", etc. on the schedule.

Also, I'd put in a feature in Dynasty Mode where you start a football program from scratch as a non-scholarship FCS program with a team full of low-rated walk-ons and can eventually work your way all the way up to the BCS if you do well enough.

You'd even be able to choose from a list of Division I schools that don't currently have football to start out at, each with different levels of support, resources, academic requirements, etc.

But all of this is probably a pipe dream.

Dont feel bad StonyBrook is missing also ?

Hey Seawolf,

I apologize for leaving off StonyBrook. The only list that I had access to at the time was one on Wikipedia. Therefore, when I published the article, it contained both football sponsoring schools and non-football schools. However, I have been tweaking the list as requested by the FCS fans. If you or anyone else sees any other issues, please let me know via the contact link on my site.

Thanks and I'm glad to see that everyone enjoyed the article. I'm an OU guy myself (live a few miles from the Norman campus), but I love watching teams like Richmond.

Brian,

Could you please take the San Marcos off Texas State University? We really don't like it listed that way although there are a few people (that hate TxSt) that insist on listing it that way (and repeatedly writing it as such). Yes, it is the full, official name but we fans do not use it.

Thanks,

Diane

PS - you need to start following The SLC

Yes, yes, yes. And yes. BTW, I'm not going to ever buy EA's piece of crap video games until they include the Patriot League - something EA has never, ever done.

I started a thread about this last off season with a ton of anticipation for the game. In the end, I was disappointed.

Two years ago, I went out and bought a PS3, and pre-ordered the game. I counted down the days, but in the end I was disappointed then too.

EA has yet to have any information out there that will let me know that I will not be let down again.

I just received notification this morning that I may get an opportunity to interview a member of the development team. If I do, what questions should I ask?

Just like you stated in your article, there are a ton of students at FCS universities that would be much more inclined to buy the game if their school was included. Why would they not want to try to penetrate that market?

In previous versions of the game, standard small stadiums were used for all FCS schools, along with generic backgrounds. If the only year to year maintenance that was necessary is dealing with uniforms and player ratings, why was this dropped?

If their arguement is that they wanted to enhance the reality of the game to only included authentic stadiums, there are tons of historical FCS fields that would be great to add to the game.

Is there any chance that the create a school feature would return?

Just off the top of my head:D

JetsLuvver

EA got it right when they first added FCS teams back on the original PlayStation, giving each school its real home stadium and treating them as part of the game, with the teams even recruiting against the I-A squads in dynasty. The Heritage Bowl was even included.

They should have built from there as technology improved, but instead chose to treat FCS as an afterthought while adding useless side features like mascot games.

Also, it's stupid that they gave a generic stadium to even Tennessee State, whose regular home of Nashville's LP Field is already included in the games as host of the Music City Bowl

Just an FYI...you'll be able to create FCS teams using the new Teambuilder feature in NCAA 10. For more information, see the link below:

http://ncaafootballfreak.com/2009/04/details-on-teambuilder-revealed/

From what I've found out so far, EA is going to pre-load a lot of the FCS logos. So, you should be able to create just about any team.
