Elvis Akpla Soph. WR
6-2 185
Akpla transfers to MSU in January as a 6-2, 185 lb sophomore.
Akpla was a first team all-league choice at Lincoln High School in Portland in 2006, catching a 69-yard touchdown pass against Lake Oswego to help Lincoln to the state title game. He was a third team all-state selection as a senior.
"I really like the speed Elvis brings to our receivers group," Ash said. "He was an outstanding track athlete in high school, and is a very skilled receiver. We were looking for down-the-field speed at receiver, and Elvis brings us that."
Prep: Won state titles as a senior (long jump, 23-1 1/4 (w:-3.3); triple jump, 47-8w, w:2.7), and also competed as a junior (long jump, 16th). Led state rankings as senior in long jump (23-11) and triple jump (47-8), and just marks (24-1 1 / 48-10 1/2) that would have ranked him top 15 nationally. Also a Portland Interscholastic League long jump and triple jump champion. In other sports, also lettered three basketball seasons at shooting guard and two football seasons at wide receiver. On gridiron, the first team all-league and third team and all-state pick caught a 69-yard touchdown to help team advance to state championship game vs. Lake Oswego. International bachelor’s certificate recipient. High School (Coach): Lincoln ’07 (Forrest Sherman).

Cal Poly doesn't get many FBS transfers. If a "student" athlete is looking for a school with lower academic standards, Poly will not be considered (actually, Poly would probably not consider that student). And Poly prefers students that will play for 4 years.
Of course, this year, with Poly's coach leaving, there is little chance an athlete will consider the school, at least until the new Head Coach is chosen. But, if Poly does select a coach (most likely an assistant) from an FBS program, it is possible that a player might decide to follow that coach.

Montana has none coming in. Since the last two that transferred here got arrested and thrown in prison Hauck doesn't go that route any longer. Not saying he won't ever but they better be sqeaky clean with top grades.
We are down to one FBS transfer on the team for 2009. A kid that came here as a redshirt freshman. He'll be a senior in 2009.
