View Full Version : Is there a luckier team/program than Boise State?

TCU has 15 first downs to Boise State's 8, 128 yards rushing to Boise State's 14, and 246 yards of total offense to Boise State's 105.
But Boise State is ahead at halftime 13-7.
This is ridiculous.

Well, I can see that nobody else is interested in what was a very entertaining game but sanity prevails.

Tell you what, that is a really speedy and good defense TCU has. Only losses to BCS teams.

They are very good on defense. Boise State ended up with 25 yards rushing and 252 total yards. The game was much closer than it should have been as TCU had 272 yards rushing and 470 total yards.
It would've been a real shame if TCU had lost that game and it came pretty darned close to happening.

Well...teams in BCS bowls anyway. They lost to Utah even though they outgained the Utes 416 to 275 in total yards and outrushed them 165 to 45. They came pretty close to doing the same sort of thing tonight.

GREAT GAME FROGS!!!
Boise definately got the advantage with some untimely turnovers, but it's a testament to how good this Frog team is that they played that poorly and still came away with the win against a very good Bronco team
TCU thrives on ball-control offense, swarming defense, and the timely turnover. None were more timely than the two picks at the end
RAH RAH TCU!

Utah is a better team than Boise. Make the plays when they have to.

Boise State used up all of their luck in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl when they beat the champs from the Big XII that did not have a single good team in it.
The BCS people need to be more cautious about putting WAC teams in BCS bowl games. So far the three teams tied for second in the WAC have lost to a 3-9 Utah State team, a very overrated Missouri team (by 52), and Army. And let's not forget about the beating Hawaii took from an overrated UGA team last year.

Well...I didn't know any of the details of that game until they talked about it during the bowl broadcast last night. But TCU did miss two short field goals and that was a factor in creating a situation such that Utah was in range to win with a score at the end. Obviously, Utah had to make plays to win. But it also kind of looks like TCU kind of blew some things so that Utah was still in range at that point.

That makes two of us on both accounts. xlolx TCU was more physical, you could tell Boise State would get worn down as the game went on.

Kind of, though it would be unfair to simply characterize Utah as lucky in the way you might Boise. Utah played very good defense that night, and while the Frogs missed some opportunities, especially some overthrows and the 2 missed FGs, Utah made the plays they needed to at the end of the game for their last TD drive. They are deservedly undefeated, though I still think Alabama will beat them

Utah made the necessary drive against Oregon State to win that game. TCU did miss kicks, but if TCU had Utah's kicker, TCU would have won. Utah's kicker is definitely in the best kicker in the country discussion. 5 or 6 kicks over 50. Around 45 per punt.
