Once again college baseball is coming soon. Cal Poly once again has a brutal schedule. 56 games of which 21 are against top 40 teams. As a comparison National Champion Fresno State has zero, yes ZERO against top 40 teams.

Cal Poly's first 4 games are a 3 game series at home against number 3 Rice and the fourth is against National Champion and preseason 16 Fresno State.

Cal Poly also has 16 games against teams not in the top 40 that did receive some top 40 votes in the poll.

Fullerton is #13.

By comparison, our first opponent, TCU is #37 while Stanford, our second opponent is #6. 33 of the 56 games will be played against teams that played in the NCAA Regionals last season.

The annual vote from the SWAC voter(s)? Or do you suspect someone is giving them some sort of respect this year? Sure, they've had awards -- but their OOC wins were Coppin State, Chicago State and Nicholls State amongst Div I teams. Coppin and Chicago were ranked in the bottom five of America in RPI. Southern was 199 last year.

Glad to see a few SLC teams getting love, but no SHSU (which was #86 last year) -- the back-to-back NCAA automatic berth holders from the Southland. Kendall Rogers of Rivals was giving the Kats some props. We do have Mark Johnson after all. Would be nice if we would drop TxSo and PV from the schedule. Would more than likely be better served not playing teams in the bottom 50 of RPI.

UNI had a decent year last year. But its so hard for upper Midwestern teams to compete with our weather.

StonyBrook begins it's defense of the America East Title on Feb. 27th
opening a four game series at Florida Atlantic Univ. We have a 54 game
season with 25 home games this year.

Quinnipiac looks to improve on an abysmal 16-36 campaign from a year ago. The Bobcats have a challenging early schedule with games at Maryland, Georgia, Duke, College of Charleston, Citadel and Michigan State. Overall QU plays a 53 game schedule, but only 23 are at home. Quinnipiac opens February 27th at Maryland.

So my alma mater is the defending national champion and all we are ranked is 16th? Talk about no respect. We've got plenty of talent back to a tradition-rich program.

Yea Elon getting votes. We better be ranked by the end of this year. We got two preseason All-Americans (3B Bennett Davis and LF/SP Cory Harrilchak), plenty of young talent (including one of the best closers in the SoCon, Sophomore Thomas Girdwood) and some sick freshmen coming into the defending SoCon champs that have only lost 3 starters from last year.

Never before have I been so excited for baseball season.
