I have respectfully waited until EVERYONE'S season has ended to begin looking at next season's recruits.
I figured this would be a great reference for the off season, as many schools at the FCS level don't have rivals or scout pages to their name.
Please post any updates on new possible recruits or transfers to your school.

Any idea of what type of player Balwin could be at the next level? Hard hitting, coverage, etc.
Thanks for the updates!

Coach Lembo has announced that Elon has 5 verbals at this point. A TE, an OL, 2 CBs and an athletic QB who will likely turn into a slot receiver (like Lance Camp).
Players I've seen on ESPN and Rivals committing to us:
Jeremy Peterson ATH 5-9 180 R.J. Reynolds H.S. (Winston-Salem, NC)
David Williams CB (ESPN)/ATH (Rivals) 5-9 174 Thomas Dale H.S. (Chester, VA)
Dennis Wegner OL 6-3 275 Chancellor HS (Fredericksburg, VA)

Furman has 3 known commitments at this time.
OC - Ryan Storms
East Coweta HS (GA)
6’1”, 255 lbs., 5.1 sec, 290 lbs bench, 405 lbs squat
-Formerly a Navy commit, but switched to Furman
DE/DT - Colton Keig
Riverside Military (GA)
6’4”, 255 lbs, 4.97 (timed at Vandy) sec, 280 lbs bench, 415 lbs squat
-big kid who could play DE or grow into an DT or OT
RB - Jerodis Williams
Prattville HS (AL)
5’10”, 185 lbs, 4.4 sec, 255 lbs bench, 540 lbs squat, 340 lbs clean
-His team, Prattville, just won their 3rd straight 6A AL state championship and he was selected for the AL/MS All-Star game but couldn't play b/c of a nagging injury.
Also, I think I remember seeing that ajc.com reported that GSU has a commitment from LB Mark Flott from Emanuel County Institute (ECI).
If you head over to the furman message boards, I keep a really long list of players in the 2008-2009 Furman Recruting Thread. It has a lot of prospects listing several FCS schools from all over the southeast.

One or two more on the OL would be great since most of our guys next year will be Sr's! I've heard great things about Peterson. He's been the 2-A State POY the last two seasons and could really step in and bring some excitement to the offense.

One of the top athletes in the Chattanooga area, Deonte Lindsey, has apparently committed to Tennessee Tech. Tech also has confirmed two D-I transfers. A TE from UAB and LB from U Conn - although I cannot find anyone who knows their names or any other info. I heard the UConn transfer did play quite a bit there until sitting out this past year.

I was possibly wrong on that, on his ESPN profile, it had him "Considering" VT. I assumed that meant he had been considering an offer from them, I could be wrong about that though.
He's to smart to go to VT though... 3.9 GPA 1140 SAT.

EVANGEL: Evangel quarterback Dez Duron, the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year and Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year, has announced his intention to play football for Yale University.
Duron, a 5-foot-10 1/2, 165-pound senior, threw for 4,216 yards and a state-record 57 touchdown passes this season as the Eagles finished second in the state.
The three-year starter also owns the state single-game touchdown pass record with eight, set against Springhill this season.
Yale competes in the Ivy League, which does not offer athletic scholarships. The Bulldogs went 6-4 this season.
Only Yale could get a commit like this without a head coach. xlolx

With the coaching change at UTC, the Mocs are getting off to a late start. First signee is a transfer from Miami-Ohio.
From Chattanooga Times-Free Press
Russ Huesman received his first commitment Saturday when Brian Sutherland told the new University of Tenenssee at Chattanooga football coach that he was transferring to play for the Mocs.
Sutherland, a freshman from Smyrna, Ga., who wanted to get closer to home, redshirted this season at Miami (Ohio) and will start attending classes at UTC on Monday. He has four years of eligibility.

Terriers' Walden to make first visit (http://blogs.tampabay.com/preps/2009/01/terriers-walden.html). Just a quick recruiting note from Hillsborough: Terriers senior Colby Walden, who plays wide receiver and was among the county's best kick returners last fall, will visit Georgia Southern this weekend. Hillsoborugh is the school that I follow here in Tampa. This kid is a burner, all County Track performer.

Wait 65 TD's in his senior season alone or over his whole career? If over only his senior year then that has to be some kind of national HS record! Either that or he was playing against the PA school for the Blind.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team’s first big recruiting weekend under new head coach Russ Huesman paid immediate dividends. Of the nine players who made official visits last weekend, five have committed to the Mocs, including Ringgold High quarterback Zac Fairchild.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Fairchild, who missed all of his senior season with a torn ACL in his left knee, was a Times Free Press “Dynamite Dozen” preseason selection and has been coming to Mocs games since he was very young.
“I’ve always wanted to go to UTC, I live about 20 minutes from campus, and I’m really happy to have the chance to be a part of it,” Fairchild said. “I’ve probably been to 30 or 40 UTC games in my life, so to have this opportunity means a lot to me.”
Fairchild said he is five months removed from knee surgery and is coming along well with his rehabilitation and training, adding that he expects his playing weight to be down around 230. A talented high school pitcher with a 90-mph fastball, Fairchild said he is throwing twice a week and expects to be ready for baseball season.
Should he be selected the Major League Baseball draft, he said he would then have a decision to make about his future.
“It would depend on what the terms are, if I get drafted,” he said. “That would be the only reason I wouldn’t come play football at UTC.”
Another Mocs commitment, Kell High School wide receiver Marlon Anthony, from Marietta, Ga., is rated as a three-star player by Rivals.com. The 6-5, 185-pound wideout had 46 catches for 713 yards and four touchdowns as a senior, along with 10 punt returns for a total of 228 yards.
Berkmar High School cornerback Kadeem Wise, of Lilburn, Ga., also committed after last weekend’s visit. The 5-10, 172-pound Wise is rated a two-star player by Rivals.com and ran a 4.28 40-yard dash at a Virginia Tech camp last summer. He had 51 tackles as a senior.
Wise committed to Duke in July but later de-committed because of academic concerns. He said he felt very comfortable during his visit to UTC and especially liked the players and coaches he met.
“I felt like we really connected from the time I got there to the time I left,” he said.
The Mocs’ other two commitments are Carrollton (Ga.) linebacker Wes Dothard and Newnan (Ga.) defensive end Durlandis Hill.
The 6-1, 200-pound Dothard, the younger brother of Mocs redshirt freshman safety J.D. Dothard, had 60 rushes for 305 yards, 25 tackles and two interceptions as a senior. Hill is listed at 6-3, 220 and had 67 tackles and 10 sacks during his senior season at Newnan.
Busy Huesman
Huesman spent most of Tuesday and Wednesday conducting one-on-one meetings with UTC’s players. He’ll be out and about in public today, however.
Huesman is scheduled to speak at the Downtown Chattanooga Rotary Club lunch at the Chattanooga Convention Center at noon, followed by a two-hour stint during The Drive on ESPN Radio 1370 AM that will take place at Big River Grill downtown. After that he will address the crowd at halftime of the men’s basketball team’s 7 p.m. game against Appalachian State.
The appearance at Big River is open to the public and several members of his staff also are expected to be in attendance.

The first Lehigh commit has hit the papers: and it's a product from the coal region that Schylkill Haven fans are raving about.
It's RB Zach Barket, who verbally committed to Lehigh.
Barket was robbed of a spot on the coveted "Big 33" and PSFCA postseason teams, despite the career totals of the 5' 10, 205 lb running back bordering on the ridiculous.
Try 4,195 yards and 66 touchdowns. And that's not for a career. Thats in a single season.
He's a huge get for Lehigh. Barket has an impressive statewide trophy case, including Gatorade’s Pennsylvania Player of the Year Award, the Old Spice Red Zone Pennsylvania Player of the Year, the AP Class A Co-Player of the Year, Pennsylvania Football News Mr. Football, Maxpreps Small School National Player of the Year and The Republican & Herald All-Area Offensive Player of the Year.

He's coming out of a Div A School--the smallest school division in PA..I suspect some view the opposition that he put the numbers up against suspect, but regardless, even small schools in coal region PA are filled with tough kids. Sounds alot like Eachus that we lost out to Colgate on last year. I know RB was THE priority for Lehigh this year as we got caught thin this past year with injuries and dropouts. So I jumped the gun a bit, the kid can spell his name afterall. I'm sure he was a great student in HS if Lehigh offered him a scholarship, I just find it hard to beleive that no major FBS schools in the area didn't seriously consider his services after numbers like that. I'm sure they did their homework and felt his competition wasn't up to sniff, but geez, the kid averaged over 275 yds per game! Show a little love for the diaper dandy!
I'm sure the Lehigh faithfull are counting their blessings and I hope he turns out to be a workhorse for y'all as I'm sure he'll be playing with a chip on his shoulder after being looked over by all the FBS schools in the area.

Supposedly he's not a 'blazing' runner. But from all accounts he's tough between the tackles with good quickness--perhaps not big or quick enough for an FBS school to risk a scholarship. Keep in mind, in today's world with limited scholarships a lot of good players 'fall through the cracks' to the FCS schools. Coming from a small high school can also weigh against him. Hopefully, he's another McGowan, without the injuries.

Any other GWU commits that anyone knows of? Hopefully they had some good success on the recruiting front this 2nd weekend of Official Visits? Harris is a really good pick-up for GWU.

That's correct. Hollingsworth was committed to Miss St, for 9 months and when Dan Mullen was hired he decided they were only going to take 1 QB (so they pulled the offer). Just the nature of recruiting, but the guy kind of got screwed. By the time the offer came off the table in mid-December, most schools either have their QB or have a #1 target.

If you get an A in an advanced placement course you get 5 quality points, instead of 4. When you see a GPA above 4.5 it means the kid is aceing AP courses, and taking alot of them.

Either way, its a sick GPA, but in some school systems, an AP course is awarded 2 extra quality points, so an A would get you a 6 instead of a 5.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga got two more commitments from football prospects Sunday.
A week after their official visits, Franklin (Tenn.) High School quarterback Graham Nichols and South Cobb (Ga.) High School athlete Chris Awuah informed UTC coaches of their decisions. They are the seventh and eighth players to commit since Russ Huesman was named the Mocs coach.
Huesman said last week that he expects to have 13 scholarships to offer.
“I just like what they’re trying to do in terms of rebuilding the program and trying to get it back to where it once was,” Nichols said of UTC, which went 1-11 last season and has had just two winning seasons in the past 17 years.
Nichols, a Class 5A Mr. Football finalist listed at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, threw for 2,204 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, with just two interceptions, and led the Rebels to the state championship game. He said he chose UTC over Murray State and UT-Martin, and the fact that Huesman hired former UTM passing game coordinator Marcus Satterfield as offensive coordinator played a big role in his decision.
“He recruited me my whole senior year, and I really liked the offense that they ran at UT-Martin,” Nichols said. “That pro-style is what we ran at Franklin.”
Nichols joins Ringgold’s Zac Fairchild as UTC quarterback commitments, while Awuah, who played quarterback his senior season, said he expects to play tailback for the Mocs. The 5-9, 168-pounder ran for more than 1,000 yards and passed for 500 as a senior, scoring 13 touchdowns, he said.
“I really like what I saw when I visited — the way things are changing and everybody was so excited about the future,” Awuah said.
Nichols and Awuah were among nine players who visited UTC on the weekend of Jan. 9-11, and seven of those nine have now committed. The other commitment is redshirt freshman wide receiver Brian Sutherland, a transfer from Miami (Ohio) who already is taking classes at UTC.

Saw where Dakota Dozier committed to Furman over Appalachian State. Dozier was apparently high on ASU's OL Board and his decision still leaves the Mountaineers without a OL commit with just two weeks to signing day and OL being a stated position of need. So far the rich are not getting richer at least with OL. Can't imagine that won't change but for those who are hoping to move up the FCS Football pecking order, it at least for now shows that a little more parity may be on the horizon.

Central two-way lineman Kevin Grier, set to visit Bethune-Cookman this weekend, also has received interest from Liberty and Alabama State. … Hernando punter/kicker Josh Harvey also is being looked at by B-CU and has generated interest from Akron. Leopards two-way standout Clay Kessler has drawn looks from Sacred Heart (Conn.) and Delaware. … Wesley Chapel two-way lineman Patrick Pate has been accepted to Virginia Military Institute. Wildcats teammate Keenan Reynolds, who ran for nearly 800 yards as a senior, has strong interest from South Dakota State.

One player here or there is not a big deal. It's all about developing players and coaching them up. App St's championships are because of that, and so long as Jerry Moore is there, the success will continue.

I would say more than OK. A 3 star QB in the fold. Top Targets at RB, DE, DL, and OL (2 for 2 losing out on Bennett and Crisafi). On-field performance issue is debatable. But you can't debate BL and staff's recruiting ability. With more commits to come, this class continues to change the face of the Furman defense. Furman could sign 11 linemen on both sides of the ball.

DL: 6-3 270, 6-3 265 (2 more commits to come)
DE: 6-5 235 (2-3 more commits to come, one of these is also 6-5)
DB: 5-9, 170 (4.34), 6-0, 185, 6-3, 190
LB: 5-11, 190
I think it can be debated. Lamb's best seasons have come with Johnson's players. Now that the team is entirely his, the results have been very mediocre. For Furman, 6-5 or 7-5 isn't debatable on-field performance- its just unacceptable. Maybe its X's and O's, but I suspect recruiting has played some role as well.
Mostly, Lamb seems like he can't get all the parts working together at the same time. If its not defense, its the offense. If not either of those, turnovers. If not that, special teams. He needs to tighten things up, sooner rather than later.

richard long recently just quit the team so another schollie is opened up. not sure if they'll use that to recruit tho.
One player here or there is not a big deal. It's all about developing players and coaching them up. App St's championships are because of that, and so long as Jerry Moore is there, the success will continue.
I think Lamb and Furman are recruiting OK, but the on-field performance isn't there right now...

Still, though, always nice to beat out a big rival for a key player. Do I think it's a power shift? No. Is it a feather in our hat? Yes.
I guess you can't please everyone and make the playoffs every year. Lamb recruits well given tougher restrictions, graduates players at an astronomical rate, and generally wins football games.

Wofford might have a scary class this year. I know everyone likes to say that we do more with less but but that is about to change. I don't want to jinx anything by naming names, but we have a good number of commits from people that got FBS offers and a ton of pure athletes which we may have been missing to a degree in the past. We were always a few players away. It looks like they may be here now. From what I understand we have about 23 verbals. Every player that we have offered has said yes.

It will be interesting to see how Wofford's and Furman's 09 classes develop. Much has been said about who exactly was offered by who. Furman's recruiting strategy is very different than Wofford. I think for Furman it's smart to offer for example 5 players for 3 spots, then you take the first 3 commits. Fuman loses Bennett and LeGrande to Wofford but gets Storms, Nenos, and beats APP out for Dozier at OL. Furman loses on LeGrande but gets Solomon (GA Region 5-AAAA Def POV) and then Worthy commits (rare 2 star with no FBS firm offers).
Still I have to give Furman the edge for the top recruit in the SoCon right now. Josh Hollingsworth (3 Star) ESPN grade 73, ESPN #99 ranked QB. UTC might have a 3 star commit too.

WOCO - Not trying to stir things up but Wofford didn't get a verbal from every player they offered. One who held a written offer, committed to Gardner Webb instead, OL Jeff Harris. There is no doubt about the offer from Wofford, being close to the kid's high school program, I saw the offer sheet with Coach Ayers signature on it. With that said, there can be little doubt that Wofford is going to have the best recruiting class in their history when everything is announced. The Terriers will challenge for the top spot in the SOCON for the next several years IMO. Harris had also received early interest from Furman, Elon, App. State, William & Mary and Coastal Carolina so he was a significant pick-up for the Dawgs.

The nice thing about it is now the recruits we end up not offering are going to be big time recruits. We are really stepping up our game. I dont know that in the past our recruiting from top to bottom was where it needed to be. Looks like with last year and this year it really is. Comparing Wofford's and Furman's classes straight up is a waste of time. Wofford runs a different scheme and oftentimes targets a different type of athlete. For example, Wofford isn't going to recruit a tall drop back passer like Furman will, nor will they have use for some of the big OLs we go after.

They only have 8 or 9 available scholarships so they are trying to recruit "impact players"
...when in reality I think they need more Offensive lineman (that's what I heard from an App fan).
More power to them though, if they want a future that consists of an inexperienced O-line and no Armanti do bail them out it's fine with mexthumbsupx

No, with several players deciding they would rather seek excellence elsewhere and being general dumbasses by not doing what they should, the big question is...will the recruits be up to the challenge?

I am willing to bet Lott never sees the back side of a center. This looked like a sloppy seconds type of QB choice by the App State Coaches.A little last minute Fill the QB spot up so we have somebody Kinda thing.
I dont think he will unseat Pressley.Loosing Satterfield hurt with recruiting.ASU put to many eggs in the Dantin basket.

busybee14 - I think you might just be right in your assessment. To have two major positions of need at QB and OL and to get this late in the recruiting game and take a guy who hasn't been at the top of your board raises several questions. Don't want to take anything away from the kid because he may turn into a really good one but it's odd and they appear to be in potentially a worse spot with the OL. I think fair minded observer would say this is not what they had in mind regarding QB and OL when they started down the trail back in December. They may pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat yet at those 2 positions. They have done some nice stuff at LB, S and Ath positions so until the signee list is finalized next Wed. the game is still on but they are a bit behind and it's getting late in the 4th qtr.

eagleDawg,
With satterfield leaving I think it killed all chances of Dantin shunning the fbs teams and sliding into Boone. As for the O line ,I dont get what is going on there either. You all(GSU) signed the Harris kid away from WC and he was supposed to be going to App at one time as well.
All the success of the last few years at ASU was on the back of "smaller" mobile ,hard ass lineman who were lunch pale blue collar trench monsters and it was a great fit with the Speedy backfield and QB.Now they slowly seem to be adding alot more size,Which is great if you got Peyton throwing the ball back there but not if you have a runner.
I dont get it.Like you said maybe they have us all fooled and will unwrap a masterful last minute class, but until they do this ASU fan thinks we have not had close to a great recruiting year .Average at best

And who are you to say that you know that Lott wasn't near the top of their board? No one outside of the coaching staff and people who help recruit can possibly know what their recruiting board looks like.
They have a three star DB commitment, and a two star athlete who runs a 4.33 40 with it being reported to have been as high as 4.28. This coming from the coaches at Iowa State over the summer.
They only had 9 scholarships originally to work with and now with 11. They had to be picky and it should be expected for commitments to just now start rolling in.xnonono2xxnonono2xxnonono2x

DE – Rashaun Phillips

From what I've been told/heard, FU is looking to bring in 20-22 recruits this year. So there could still be 3-5 commits still to come.

ericsaid - chill bro, it was just an opinion. There has been no mention of Lott prior to this weekend and no offer extended to him until just recently apparently. You are correct in saying that no one but the coaching staff knows who is/was at the top of their board. But if you believe anything, know that Dantin was the kid at the top of their board. Jerry Moore has better things to do than go to Florida, speak with a kid who's a 2-star and offer him if he's not the one at the top of the board. ASU needs to be picky and no doubt they are doing just that. However, don't confuse picky with the lack of success to date to get a single OL commitment which has been stated by Coach Moore no less as a position of critical need. ASU has lost both Dozier and apparently Boyd and Martin and Schmalhofer didn't commit after there visit so that has to be a concern. These kids know what ASU is about and after the visit if they are still not certain and ready to commit with only a week to go, then I would be concerned. That's just me. Maybe they will close with a bang. If not ASU will still be one of the main teams to beat. For the first time in 4 years though, ASU will be like one of 124 other FCS teams trying to dethrone a champion instead of defending a championship. Great program, great team yes, invincible, no!

Eric, much like Eagledawg I also follow what has been reported and that info and personal gut feeling are the only thing I am basing my assesment of the ASU 2009 recruiting class on.For 6 months I have read about Dantin and a few others and have not once until this week have heard Lotts name mentioned. My point is this winter seems a little "off" for the mountaineers.Yes they are still a dominant force and a well coached team,I just dont think it has been as eye popping as years past.Furman,Wofford and GSU seem to be really doing well and in comparison we sem a little flat.
For the record it is my experience if a kid is running a 4.28 he is not leaving the track he was running on without a big offer from the host school, even if the kid cant catch a ball or tie his shoes.

SCSU picks up several more commitments after recruiting weekend clap nod
By THOMAS GRANT JR., T&D Senior Sports Writer

By this time in January, middle linebacker Milton Patterson was hoping to starting counting the days before he signed with Mississippi State.
The 5-11, 244-pound middle linebacker out of Benjamin E. Banneker High School in College Park, Ga. was offered by the Southeastern Conference school back in June. Instead of making a quick verbal commitment, Patterson waited for other schools and Mississippi State subsequently pulled their offer from the table after filling up at that position.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Patterson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I thought it was the end.”
A closing of one door, however, led to an opening with another Bulldog program. This past weekend, Patterson accepted a scholarship offer to play at South Carolina State.
Patterson was one of 10 prospects who committed to the Bulldogs following a second weekend of visits to the Orangeburg campus. Another Peach State recruit who was also offered by a Division I program prior to committing with S.C. State was tight end Trent Barnes (6-3, 242) of Dublin High School in Dublin, Ga.
The brother of North Carolina State linebacker Thomas Barnes, the two-sport athlete originally committed to South Florida. Rounding out the list of Georgia recruits were defensive end Marquis Lovett (6-3, 240) of Norcross High School and defensive tackle Malcolm Reed (6-4, 250) of Fayette County High School, in Fayetteville, Ga.
The list of Palmetto State verbal commitments gained this weekend include a pair of state champions, a Shrine Bowl selection and a 2008 All-T&D Region second team selection:
- QB Richard Que (6-2, 190 lbs.) of Wilson - He threw for 1,410 yards on 81 of 169 passing and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 577 yards and five TDs as a senior. As a junior, he led the Tigers to the state Class 3-A football title.
- DB Pat Burris (5-11, 180 lbs.) of South Pointe High School - He had
31 tackles and three INTs for the undefeated state Class 4-A Division II champion Stallions.
- OL William Kirkland (6-5, 280) of Lancaster -- Kirkland was a Shrine Bowl selection.
- OL Thomas Hart (6-5, 290 ) of Orangeburg-Wilkinson - A 2008 T&D All-Area second-team selection who graded out at 90 percent on the season.
- DE Tyran Melvin (6-2, 240) of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. The former Conway standout had received offers from the University of Ohio and Arizona.
- WR Marcus Lloyd (6-3, 185) of Manning - Amassed more than 1,700 receiving yards the past two seasons.
The list of verbal commitments for S.C. State heading into National Signing Day on Feb. 4 is currently at 24, with other potential recruits like Timberland running back Rockarius King still mulling offers.

Like I said last year. Notre Dame has a top 5 recruiting class every year and has been getting the doors blown off. Sure, a good class on paper creates excitement, but no one knows until these guys hit the field.
Some of the best players in this league have been guys that were not the biggest name recruits. See: Jayson Foster, Jerome Felton.

Nice, I'm sure he'll fill Tim Applegate's role right away
Armwood players are well coached, winners (always in the final 8) and play assignments well.

Thats the conclusion I came to after looking into things a bit. I saw that this year's team has the most scholarship offers in school history. They must have been a fun group to watch as I'm sure they handed out a beat down or two!

They're fun to watch if you're not in the same district. You always fight for second. xlolx
Class of 09:
Regional Final in 2008
State Semi-Final in 2007
Regional Final in 2006

Thats a whole lotta winnin right there! Our coaching staff has found a lot of talent in that area over the past few seasons and its a safe bet that they'll continue making those recruiting trips with those types of players up for grabs.

GoWildCats789 - Are you able to source the Nick Schmalhofer commitment to UNH via a newspaper report or is it just football sources? I heard that App. State really wanted this kid and that he was initially leaning to ASU after his Official Visit there two weekends ago. Must have had a change of heart.xbawlingx

does it bother anyone else that we have no OL commits?
the position of most need.
It really bothers me! I can't understand this but its not over yet. I was honestly expecting that if we took a transfer at any position it would be o-line. I'm a little confused by this move to say the least.

It doesn't seem as though it is due to a lack of targeting them. Sometimes they just go elsewhere.

Yeah I guess he chose UNH over App. State.
http://unionleader.com/blogs/wildcats/
Nick Schmalhofer, an offensive/defensive lineman from Lancaster (Pa.) Catholic High School is headed to Durham to play football for UNH. Schmalhofer is 6-4 and 240 pounds and said tonight that he thinks the Wildcat coaches are leaning toward using him on the offensive line. . . . He called in last night and told the UNH folks that he wanted to accept the scholarship that had been offered to him. . . . Schmalhofer had narrowed his choices down to UNH, Appalachian State, Eastern Michigan and Stony Brook. He took official visits to all four schools within the last two weeks and said UNH quickly emerged as his clear-cut favorite. . . . Schmalhofer plans to sign an official letter of intent to accept a scholarship when the signing period opens next Wednesday, Feb. 4. . . . “He’s got good size and quickness and a nice wing span,” said Lancaster Catholic coach Bruce Harbach. “I don’t think he’s done growing yet and he’s almost 6-5.”

Are you mad he's going to Furman, or mad that you lost the ability to pull for an offensive lineman with the name Dozier?

Awesome, but that means we'll have Henton for another 2 years, Chappel for another 3, and Billy for another 3 then, right? I wonder if this guy will get any playing time with this much talent.

Not right away.If you are coming in as a QB his best bet is to take the red shirt.
The 2010 class will have a little better shot as they will arrive Hentons senoir year, leaving Billy and Chapple fighting it out as juniors. Not as long of a wait.
Can Osbourne move?

Couple of other guys that have committed but are not being reported as of yet. Big time players. This class could surpass last year's class, which I didn't think would be possible. Hatch is a great recruiter. I will give him that much.

BB14, if you were referencing Billy Lowe (as introvertedgsufan appeared to me to be) he already redshirted a year elsewhere, played a year for us and was out last year with an injury, so there's not a red shirt year for him to take. I guess maybe y'all were both talking about Brent Osborne, though. Anyway, I'm thinking that the competition between Lowe, Henton and Chapple is going to be something to see!

I was talking about Osbourne.I think Chapple will end up on top.
Mark my words GSU and WC will Represent the Socon this year. Both have done great things in the offseason.
