Favorites for Buchanan Award?

Who are the favorites to win the Buchanan Award for the FCS Defensive Player of the Year? I would like to see Nathan Williams win the thing as he is the nations leading tackler and has been an absolute beast for our defense this year. I am worried that he may not be considered because he played on a mediocre team. Who are the favorites?

Homer pick but Legree has got to get some credit, no one has had 10 interceptions in a long time. With the schedule we played he is the most deserving. He will not win it but he should.

18 sacks is more of an accomplishment. Peach will win and deserves to win.

Peach also had 23.5 tackles for loss, 35 solo tackles, and 37 assists, so he played good run defense as well.

He is an absolute beast and deserves to win.

10 interceptions is no joke but it doesn't make up for only 58 tackles. Legree's still behind Colt Anderson for best all-around safety in FCS.

only two players in the big sky really stood out to me in the bsc this year: peach and anderson. otherwise, a lot of players were interchangeable (except maybe schillinger). given his body of work, i'd vote for peach over the other guys.... but i've watched less of them than him.

#99 DT John Faletoese for UC Davis probably isn't still on the list, but that's just because he doesn't have sexy numbers. 75% of the time he was double teamed this season and still made Great West Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All American...and yes, this is the same league as Cal Poly, but somehow, Cal Poly forgot that it was a defensive powerhouse and sided with the "offensive" side of the ball these past two seasons. Still, I'll keep it West Coast, Peach at EWU, monster...

Colt is one of the top players in the FCS ranks and will start at strong safety for the third consecutive year. He is also an outstanding player on special teams. He is the Grizzlies leading returning tackler, beginning the season with 184 total tackles. He has played in 31 games and has started the last 26.

2007: Anderson was fourth on the team with 85 total tackles and had team-highs of 58 unassisted tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass deflections. He was second on the team with three forced fumbles and fourth in tackles for loss with seven.
Colt was selected first-team All-Big Sky Conference for the second year in a row and was tabbed All-America honorable mention by the Sports Network and named to the College Sporting News ?Fab 50? team.
He started in all 14 games. Anderson was chosen Montana's Golden Helmet Award winner, given annually to the player recognized as the team's hardest hitter.
He had a season-high 10 tackles against Weber State and against Wofford. He had eight solo tackles, two stops for losses, a forced fumble, and an interception against Wofford. Colt had six or more tackles in 11 games.

2006: He had a break-out season, starting all 14 games and was Montana's fourth leading tackler with 92 stops. He was a first team All-Big Sky selection at strong safety and on special teams.
He was co-recipient (with linebacker Kyle Ryan) of UM's Tony Barbour Award, which is given to the player(s) ?who best exemplifies outstanding practice habits and makes an unselfish contribution to the betterment of the Grizzly football team.?

2005: He had seven tackles and played in five games. He missed most of the last half of the season with an injury.

2004: Anderson was a redshirt at Montana.

High School: He earned eight letters at Butte High School: three each in football and basketball and two in track. He was team captain in football and basketball.

He was the recipient of the ?head hunter award? in football. Anderson was tabbed team MVP on offense and defense in football as a senior, when he was first team all-state pick at safety and an honorable mention choice at running back. He was a first team all-conference selection at safety and second team at running back his senior season.

He was an honorable mention all-state pick as a junior. His high school football coach was former (1972-74) Griz player Greg Salo. Colt had 310 career tackles and nine career interceptions. He rushed for 850 career yards and 12 touchdowns.

Personal: His major is business administration. His parents are Mike and Michele Anderson of Butte. Birth date: October 25, 1985. His uncles, Dave Manovich (1971-73) and Pat Sullivan (1976-79), both played football for the Grizzlies.

Career highs: He had 14 tackles in a 19-17 FCS semifinal loss to UMass in 2006.

We played both Weber and Montana in the Big Sky, who both have massive lines. At least 3 guys on the Griz O-line will go into the NFL. Weber probably close to the same. We had 4 sacks against UM, and 1 or 2 against Weber... who only gave up like 10 sacks all year. I know my stats are probably off, but you get the jist.

i dont know what the other app poster is talking about... i would love to see legree win it but he doesnt deserve it... great at intercepting the ball but not the all around player others are... not yet anyway... he is only a sophmore!!!

Bergquist and the Griz got the Win at EWU. That was the important thing. Just imagine if the Griz start the 2008 conference at 0-2, versus where they are at now.
