76ers coach Maurice Cheeks was fired today. It's about time he was canned. The guy has never done a thing as head coach in Philly and Portland.

Hadn't they just given him an extension on his contract? Granted they are off to a slow start, but so was last year with a strong second half. Maybe something beneath surface with Brand now in the mix?

I always liked Maureeeeeeece Cheeeeeeks! But I can't disagree with your assessment of his head coaching.

IMO, 9-14 wasn't a terrible record for the amount of talent the 76ers have.

Most thought they were going to be one of the top 4 teams in the East. No excuse for them to be 5 games under .500 at this point of the year.

The 76ers have no clue who they want to be. IMO they are best when they get out and run, but Brand can't play that type of ball. They need to decide what they want to do and until then they will continue to struggle.

Bingo. Peems summed it up expertly. Very appropriate for a guy with a Sir Chas avatar.

Actually Marcus, Dave Zinkoff used to give a short, crisp "Cheeks" whenever he scored a basket for Philly at home. Hard to believe 25 years since the last Sixers championship. Zinkoff died early Christmas morning, 1985.
