I have been a lurker here for quite a while....but I am a lifelong griz fan, and being from/living in Helena, a Carroll Fan as well. Mike Van Diest is one of the best coaches in the country as far as I am concerned, I believe he was the finalist for the Montana State job, and decided not to take it, and for the EWU job if I am not mistaken. I mean, you want to talk dynasty, (no smack app) I realize that its a lower division of football, but check this out.
From Wikipedia
"The Fighting Saints football team has had remarkable success in the past eight years under head coach Mike Van Diest, including 8 straight Frontier Conference Championships (2000-2007), six straight national semi-final appearances (2000-2005), and five NAIA National Football Championships in six years (2002-2005, 2007)."
As well, Casey Fitzsimmons, Tight End for the lowly Detroit Lions, is straight out of NAIA Carroll College. They are about as dominant as you can get at any level, and I can't wait to see where Van Diest goes once his kids are done with highschool. Hauck replacement anyone?
Regardless, its a great time to be a Montana football fan, and everyone making the trip to Chatty, I implore you to make the 1 hour drive to Rome, GA the next day, and support your Carroll College Fightin' Saints.

I have never been to Tennessee, but I have seen a map - there is nowhere in Tennessee a lot further from anywhere in Tennessee. But I agree, hope there are a lot of griz fans at both games.

I disagree. Tennessee can be quite deceptive, but it is quite a large state. I found out the hard way that Charlotte, NC is further away from Memphis, TN than it is from New York City.
But to use a Tennessee example, to drive from Mountain City, TN (just a down the road from good old App State) to Memphis, TN is almost the exact the same distance as driving from Missoula, MT to the North Dakota state line. 540 miles.
Thats pretty darn far, regardless of which side of the continent you're on.

Exactly and that stretch of I-40 from Nashville to Memphis seems to go on FOREVER.............
But Memphis, Beale St in particular, is NICE!!! xthumbsupx

I had a bad experience trying to make it through Eagle Mountian pass one winter coming from Memphis back to Norfolk after some training. That is the most treacherous 20 miles or so of interstate in the world in the winter.

FCS and NAIA are the only two levels of college football in the state of Montana.
We could win it all!

My wife, a Carroll alum, won't be making the trip with me but in her honor I do think I will go watch that game as well.
