The hat will only be worn with the alternate jerseys. The first jersey is the new road jersey and the second is the new road alternate. The redsox.com story says the hat will be worn with the alternate jersey at home and on the road. The new secopnd jersey here is clearly maked as road alternate so one assumes the Sox will keep the alternate red jersey as a home alternate.

Ugh on the hat--totally unnecessary. This is about nothing more than trying to sell more merchandise (which should go without saying).

jerseys are ok... its actually a step back to tradition with the normal road one (aside from the font) I dunno about the hat though.. one minute im saying its ok, cause its just limited use, but I will prolly rant the first time I see it in a game.

I think its fine to sell as a fan hat, or perhaps even a once a year deal (like the green hats on St Patricks day in spring training.. or the day they celebrated the Celtics NBA Championship at Fenway) but the sock logo hat will likely be vilified loudly.

Why did guys used to wear their socks like this and why don't they now? Did the stirrup socks ever serve any functional purpose? Baseball historians please chime in:

I love the new look, I think everything is an upgrade. Unique in that they are now only the second team in baseball to have a logo that isn't a Letter or script as a primary. They have the best secondary in baseball. The updated stitching, BOSTON text and socks look great. The blue road jersey is great also. The grey/blue away is a throwback which is nice. A little plain but i enjoy it. The hat. I think it is a great stylized hat. Not better than the B hat, but its a great secondary. It is also way more popular among fans than the B hat. Overall good upgrade for boston.

What are we the Angels? Go back to the traditional jerseys. I haven't even been sold on the red home alternate jerseys they introduced a couple years back.

I'm not a fan of the red alternate jerseys, either. And yeah, the new hats are bad. If they want to have an alternate hat, they should just bring back the old red ones.

I'd like the blue jersey more if it had some red piping like the "old" away jersey. It's a bit plain right now. As for the gray jersey, bleh with a side of zzz. The old ones were better.

I missed this part yesterday, but the "hanging" sox becomes the primary team logo while a re-designed circular logo becomes the secondary logo.
