According to Wikipedia the expression “The King is dead. Long live the King!” is a traditional proclamation made following the accession of a new monarch in various countries, such as the United Kingdom, Canada and others. It applies here as Appalachian State has certainly been the “King” of FCS football for over three years now. We still don’t know the successor to the throne but thanks to Richmond and their “Stonewall Defense", we at least know there will be a new King crowned on December 19th.Read more ... http://www.championshipsubdivisionnews.com/index.php?blog=5&title=the-caa-today-the-king-is-dead-long-live&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

Just wondering, is there any FCS writer taking UNI or MT? I can't think that these games are that much of mismatches that everyone is on the CAA wagon.

It's hard to pick against Richmond, especially after the showing that put forth in last week's win at Appalachian State, however, the likelihood of the Spiders winning a game in a hostile environment in back-to-back weeks is unlikely. If UNI can shut down Vaughan and force Ward to beat them with his arm, the Panthers should emerge with a victory.

Northern Iowa 28, Richmond 24

But see, that is Coulson. Here is what he predicted on the Richmond vs UNI game the day before in his write up.

After winning at Kidd Brewer Stadium, where Appalachian State had won 42 of 43 games since 2003, the Spiders won't be intimidated by the UNI-Dome. This figures to be a low-scoring, tightly-played game that will most likely be decided by turnovers.
Look for Richmond's strength on defense and momentum to give the Spiders an ever-so-slight edge to set up an all-Colonial Athletic Association final next week in Chattanooga.

So Coulson is covering his bases?

When there is so little intersectional play it is so hard to judge - I think the reason most people are picking JMU and Richmond ( well at least on my part) is not due to lack of respect for UNI or Montana, it is based on the quality of teams JMU and Rich have played and beaten --- I'm hoping for 2 very good games ----

Dammit. Went back to double check, and the article isn't written by Coulson, at least the one with score prediction.

This one is his, he predicts an all CAA final.

Here's one who takes both:

In any case, the article you guys are talking about is the CAA Today column. I'd expect him to be picking the CAA teams in matchups such as these, although that said I believe he gives quite a bit of due credit to both Montana and UNI.

I wonder if these writers who keep projecting scores in the 30s have even watched a UR game? During their current 7-game winning streak, their defense hasn't allowed more than 15.

No offense intended @ UNI, this happens week after week from these so-called FCS experts.

If Montana wins the NC, the Big Sky will have a strong argument that it is the Premier FCS conference.

Montana's only FCS loss was to conference opponent Weber St.
Weber's only FCS losses were to Big Sky opposition.
