this would be a good move for Boston, not so much for Arizona.

Byrnes & Lugo

1) they are both in the middle of bloated contracts... getting paid too much
2) they are both "over rated" and settling in as mediocre MLB stock players
3) they both have personalities that the clubhouse loves - they tend to make good friends with their team mates

3) Translation - Byrnes tries really hard ("he has heart" xreadx ), but he's still nothing more than an average player. xsmhx

he'd be a good fit for Boston since they only need a reserve 4th OF.

He has some pop and the ability to get on base when healthy.

True..
if he played every other day (or a bit less) he'd probably stay healthy almost an entire season

right.!!! (50 games too many)

he'll be lucky to play 90 / 100 with the Red Sox...

well i could see him playing in 130 games in Boston, but a lot of it would be as a PH or late inning replacement.

Exactly. he's the kind of player that you substitute for others when they need a rest, not the other way around.

thats what they need. He'd likely PH for Lowrie or the catcher late if the Sox trailed or replace a OF late (likely Drew) But would also need to be able to step in for stretches when Drew goes down (Which you know will happen) that last fact is the reason they arent going after Rocco Baldelli.
