This is the second of two polls covering the batters listed on the 2009 Baseball Hall of Fame ballot.

Vote for as many as you like (or for none of the above). Please vote for whom YOU think belongs--NOT whom you predict will be elected by the actual voters.

Without looking at career stats I picked only Mattingly. There may be other deserving names on the list.

I say no to McGwire.

No way Mattingly deserves it. My favorite all-time player was Will Clark, and he and Mattingly have scarily similar numbers, yet Clark was one-and-done on the HOF ballots.

So if you think Mattingly gets in, then you gotta say Will Clark should be in as well. Just something to think about.

None of the above, though I feel bad for Rice because if he'd been healthier he would have most certainly been a sure-thing.

I went with MM but only because he did what did... regardless of steroids he was one of the best ever hitters...

I go with Rice, for sure. Mattingly, while very good, IMO got a lot of juice because he was a Yankee. I'd have to research him more before giving him a pass.

2009 may be Jim Rice's best shot at getting in. Hopefully he'll make it.

Then we can finally see #14 retired at Fenway. xthumbsupx

I voted for Rice and Mattingly. Although they both had short careers (and Mattingly's career was interrupted by a back injury from which he never really recovered), Rice and Mattingly both have a significant criterion which gets overlooked these days.

Both were, for significant portions of their careers, the best player in baseball.

Eddie Murray is the HOF because of longevity. But in his prime, Mattingly was much better than Murray was at any time during his career.

IMO, there is too much emphasis today on "milestone" numbers and longevity in the election process. Guys who, through not fault of their own, have brilliant careers shortened by injury get overlooked today,

Different positions though. HOF comparisons are usually based on position, also there was just something about Kirby that everyone loved. (Except me, of course...I thought he was just ok).
