According to a source from a team who is involved in negotiations, the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles "are coming in hot" on Teixeira, with the Nationals apparently willing to offer the slugger a 10-year deal for more than $20 million a year and the Orioles willing to go nine years for at least $20 million a year.

The Boston Red Sox are also aggressively pursuing Teixeira.

The Angels continue to face an uphill fight in their quest to retain free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Teixeira, according to two major-league sources, would prefer to be on the east coast for family reasons.
Three east-coast teams — the Red Sox, Nationals and Orioles — are pursuing Teixeira. And the Red Sox believe that the Nats and O's are pushing hard to bring Teixeira back to the Maryland area.

I cant speak for the Nats, but that wouldnt make sense for the O's. They have been rebuilding and as difficult as it is to see, they are making progress. The last thing they need right now is to tie up that much money in one player. We have had too many problems with big money signings for me to be estatic if he signs. Yes it would be cool to see Texiera play in Baltimore, but thats way too much money for one player.

Same goes for the Nats. They are not close to being "one player away" yet. xpeacex
