I never said anything about your Chancellor not being a good person or the "classlessness" of App. I've had nothing but good interactions with App fans and really like what your team has brought to the FCS. I just said that image of your school's top dog last year burned me (I was there in person and thought it was out of line behavior for a school's top administrator). Our pres supports the team but probably wasn't on a cheerleader's shoulders today celebrating our win.
Now I'll shut up regarding this topic as you so politely asked. xthumbsupx
This is your chancellor.

He's a great man, and, like a lot of seasoned, well-respected University Administrators, he does plenty of things that seem "out of line" for a class of folks who are generally regarded as stodgy and professorial.
Our chancellor cheers his heart our for ASU. Your chancellor is an 81 year-old guy in a leather do-rag. Claim all you want that you have room to talk, but you really don't.

HiHi, you do realize that Heilman was doing this as a tribute for fallen soldiers from his unit in WWII. I find that hard to criticize.

"E. Bruce Heilman, the University of Richmond chancellor and former president who recently turned 82, celebrated 60 years of marriage to wife Betty and marked 37 years on the campus, will ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle across the United States, leaving Richmond for San Diego, Calif., on Oct. 1.
Heilman will retrace in reverse the route he hitch-hiked in his Marine uniform in 1946, having returned from combat in Okinawa and occupation duty in Japan during and after World War II. He will follow existing portions of U.S. Route 66, the former main cross-country highway, wherever possible.
Heilman said the journey of reminiscence will be in honor of his military comrades, as well as University of Richmond alumni, who can join him on their motorcycles for any part of the trip"

Of course. The giant Marines logo on his back is a pretty good tipoff.
So hey, find the criticism in my post.
And if you think it's the "he's an 81 year-old guy in a leather do-rag" part, you need to put your anti-do-rag prejudice to rest.
To repeat myself, Heilman's a great man and a wonderful university administrator. And, true to form, he occasionally projects an image that is outside the 'university administrator box' (i.e., fun).
I'm certainly not criticizing him for that, and I find it hard to criticize our Chancellor Peacock for something similar.

Fair enough (I will admit I thought you were criticizing him, but have no problem admitting when I'm wrong - especially when I've been reading 50 posts in about 5 seconds). I have personally have no problem with any university official leading cheers or anything else. You're right, not enough of these guys show their spirit and have fun (and it's a shame when people get upset when they do).
Frankly, UR is very fortunate to have survived an administration which wanted, and tried, to effectively end our football program recently.

HiHi, I get what your saying. What troubled me more was the showing up your opponent aspect of riding like the Silver Surfer on a piece of plywood while the game was still going on.
I'm all for old stodgy administrators expressing themselves.
But that was last year. This is this year. Congrats on a great year!

Geezus! Give it a rest you guys! What does it really matter what a college president acts like? Are we still concerned with a football game?

And I get what you're saying, too, ur2K. I can see where opposing fans might interpret Peacock's exuberance as cockiness, or think he's trying to 'show up' other teams.
I don't have a lot of personal experience with Dr. Peacock, but I really don't think this was his intention. First, it doesn't fit what I know and have heard about him. Second, it's pretty hard to rise to that kind of position in life if you're the sort of person who purposely acts that ungraciously.
So yeah, I get your point. And I'm the one who should be congratulating you. Good luck next week in the semi's.

Just one of the factors that probably led UR to play with more of a chip on their shoulders than normal. I would imagine the revenge factor was high for our team today based on the semi last year.

For anyone interested, the UR/App game is being replayed on MASN at 11:00 pm tonight. And by anyone, I mean anyone but Appies. I'm sure you guys don't want to relive those three hours...

Really? You think W&M would still be playing in the semis? Stretch.
Sorry, by "now" I meant the playoffs. We weren't a championship team by any stretch. Any other year, I wouldn't expect us to even be considered for the playoffs at 7-4. But, of the available teams for the last spot, we had the best resume.
Regardless, let's give it a rest and enjoy the good games there have been in the playoffs. I'll wonder about what might have been offline.
Towson beat UR last year. Maybe if the selection committee put them in, they'd have made the final four.
A 7-4 W&M is far different from a 3-8 Towson team. I don't mind you taking a shot, but take a realistic one. xnonox

Fair enough. :) I just don't think W&M @ 7-4 was justified. IMO (and the committee's for all of history) you must win 8 or at least beat an FBS team. I'll stand by my assertion that UR laid their biggest egg of the season @ W&M; they played much better in their 3 losses.

Damn... how did this thread manage to reach 765 posts??? Last year there were bets if the App/LSU thread would get 2k in posts and that had 8 months to make it there... this thread was started a week ago... Crazy! and sorry if others mentioned the amount of posts in this thread but I'll be damned if Im gonna go back and read this thing.

Peacock did that at every game for 3 years and nobody said a word about it. He did that as a way to connect with his students and keep them fired up during the game. It had nothing to do with who we were playing. I think the negative views started with the TV announcers and other fans started to repeat it. He had been on TV doing it before and nothing was ever said.
