TG couldn't even speak tonight on ESPN 2 after they upset Ball State to win the MAC. What a great man of faith to as he was not ashamed to thank the Lord first and foremost and he even got choked up and teared up talking about his Bulls.

Guy took a SAD, SAD, SAD program in Buffalo and in 3 years has turned them into MAC champions. Kudos to you Turner Gill on a great season! xbowx xbowx xbowx xbowx xbowx xbowx xbowx

(Sorry, I love coaches like this!)

Great coach but certaintly not someone i would want to play for given his religious rhetoric. It seems his number one concern is spreading gods word or whatever you call it.

Seems like a good man of faith thanking his God. Nothing more. I seriously doubt he preaches to his players but then again, I guess some people don't care who their kids may look up to as positive role models in today's "do as thou wilt" society. Sad.

I agree. Very impressive win for the Buffalo Bulls last night. There's not an ounce of hypocrisy in Turner Gill. More power to him and his program. I think he's destined for greater things.

Was a great game - Buffalo made zero mistakes and capitalized on every single one that Ball State (and the officials - how do you not call that a touchdown right before the 92 yard fumble return play?) made...

Doesn't matter what his faith is, TG has done a great job with a perennial doormat in Buffalo...

Just curious, how much publicity/controversy would there be if a player or coach praised Allah after a win?

Congrats to Turner Gill and the Bulls...I remember not too long ago Lafayette played them (before Gill) and I always looked at it as a "W"..and it was..Great article on him in last week's USA Today. Also makes reference to the Bulls squad 50 years earlier in 1958 that turned down a bowl invite because local regulations didnt allow interracial play. Lafayette did the same 10 years before when its 1948 team (with one black player) refused to accept an invite to the 1949 Sun Bowl in ElPaso to play against todays Texas - El Paso. Been to Buffalo many a time and love it. Go Bulls!

There would be none. True Christians stand for tolerance and understanding first and foremost. Respect for other superstitions generates respect and understanding for their own.

There is no double standards in this country, we are one nation under God.

Yeah, but you don't know that from what you've seen on TV. If he is like that, then I agree with you. Just saying there's no evidence he preaches to his players constantly.

Anyway, I had a high school coach who had us all say The Lord's Prayer before games, for a public high school. Nobody gave a *****.

Gill has really turned it around in Buffalo. Lehigh went up there about 5 years ago and kicked their ass. Remarkable turnaround.

One thing for certain, he won't be at Buffalo much longer.

A man can be a role model by simply showing positive will and dedication, free of an religious rhetoric. Faith starts with oneself and in being a good person. It doesn't take one of the many religions to serve as the basis of that (which one is right???) for a person to be true and good.

I can see why the school went after Gill now in their never ending battle to make Liberty the "Notre Dame" of the Protestant related schools.
