...and the bracket looked like the FCS bracket (top 4 seeds, 8 AQs, stadium size a factor in home games, semi-regionalization, etc.), this is what I think the first round would look like, assuming a USC win over UCLA and conference championship games being scrapped.

Games are in bracket order

Georgia Tech (9-3) at #1 Alabama (12-0)
*If there was a conference-wide tiebreaker for the ACC, Georgia Tech would win it going 2-1 against the other three 5-3 teams and beating BC.

Boise State (12-0) at Penn State (11-1)
*I gave AQs to the 6 BCS conferences and top 2 non-BCS champs, Boise State and Utah.

TCU (10-2) at #4 Texas (11-1)

Oklahoma State (9-3) at USC (11-1)

Georgia (9-3) at #2 Oklahoma (11-1)

Texas Tech (11-1) at Ohio State (10-2)
*Ohio State is at home because their stadium is twice the size of TT's.

Cincinnati (10-2) at #3 Florida (11-1)

Ball State (12-0) at Utah (12-0)

I put the seeds the way they are to avoid conference games in the semifinals. Tell me what you think.

Love the Ball State/Utah game. That would be very interesting. The Pac-10 is REALLY down with only 1 team. Sixteen teams is a great format. The Sun Belt can make it one day. xprayx xxpicx

I like the potential quarterfinal there, Urban Meyer against his former team.

I like the pairing of GT at Alabama, which would be renewing an old school blood rivalry.

There is an old picture floating around of Bear Bryant wearing an Alabama helmet onto the field at Grant Field in 1964 so he wouldn't get beaned by all the liquor bottles thrown by the Tech faithful.

They'd never go that big, 8 teams:

#1 Alabama vs #8 Texas Tech
#4 Texas vs #5 USC

#3 Florida vs #6 Penn State
#2 Oklahoma vs #7 Utah

You could shuffle some seeds around based on conference championship games but that's if the season ended today.

semi-regionalization,

Boise State (12-0) at Penn State (11-1)

Ball State (12-0) at Utah (12-0)
You'd need to flip opponents here to keep it the way we do it. xpeacex

I think those would be some AWESOME match ups!

Georgia (9-3) at #2 Oklahoma (11-1)

Texas Tech (11-1) at Ohio State (10-2)

Georgia Tech (9-3) at #1 Alabama (12-0)

Would definitely get my attention in the first round alone.

I think both of those would be blow-outs for the BigXII. xpeacex

UGA and OU would combine to score 100.

With OU getting 65 of the 100.

thUGA should not even be mentioned in a possible playoff. Vastly overrated team.

Who goes in their place? Boston College? BYU? Missouri? Oregon?

Georgia has the best resume of any at-large candidate that wasn't already in.

I think we already have a playoff system in place for the FBS.

It's called the SEC Championship Game.
