Lessee, Socon has 50% of their playoff teams in the quarters, MVFC has 50%, the big ol' CAA has 80%........ but that BIG FLUFFY SKY has 100%. Kind of takes the stuffy out of FLUFFY, huh?
Of course next week the overgrown CAA has two chances for the semis and one guaranteed. The BIG SKY can only advance one team. So will we have four conferences represented after next week or only two?

Good question. The CAA going 4-1 in the playoffs certainly proves beyond any doubt that they are the best conference top to bottom.

Weber just beat a Cal Poly team that was getting #1 votes during the regular season. I'm pretty sure Weber is allowed to talk a little smack.

The CAA has three chances for the semis, and one guaranteed. If we split up the Big Sky vs. Big Sky and CAA vs. CAA games by swapping Weber and Villanova, the CAA would have the chance to try taking all 4 spots.

I think that JMU and Villanova are the two best teams right now...it stinks they are playing each other. Calm down App St., to be the best you have to beat the best, I know. Nova's 2 losses were to West Virginia and a Hail Mary (literally) to JMU. They've beat UNH and Richmond too. Should be a great game, look for winner to go to Chatty.

Wasn't coming as a Saluki fan, coming as someone who isn't retarded.
Montana played a Texas State team that shouldn't have been in the playoffs (See: Central Arkansas.) Weber State played a team that lost to the only good team Weber beat during the season and was vastly overrated all season as a result of playing nobody and being ranked highly in the pre-season. Cal Poly lost to the only two good teams they played all year, which was the same pretense with which I dropped WIU, SDSU, NDSU, EWU, UMass, and others out of my poll.
Montana can talk some, they're good year in and year out. Weber cannot, they're nothing more than a fluke so far. Like I said, if either team can get to the finals, they can be considered good.

Nothing. But you're right on cue for basically setting up the argument that Weber was overrated. 5 CAA teams get in, 3/2 split in the brackets. If the committee ONLY saw the value in splitting up conference mates, we'd be able to have TWO teams make deep runs. Because of regionalization, it'll NEVER happen. Christ, at the very least they could have put them in opposite sides of the SAME bracket so at least they didn't meet until the semis....but NOOOOOOOOO....instead we're left with another perfect scenario for CAA apologists....you've got teams with chances to make it an all CAA final....we get an all BSC QUARTER final and have to be happy with that....AGAIN.
Hell, they split up the SoCon teams....why not the BSC teams? It really wouldn't have been that hard to shift two teams. If you can't see THAT, I'm wasting my breath.

It's just too bad UM and Weber State can't meet again in Chattanooga. Oh yeah, I forgot, what passes here in the FCS wilderness for a great matchup next Saturday is exposed by some AGS sages and SIU poor losers as just another BSC pillow fight. LOL.

The difference is that this year the two teams from the BSC are legit top ten teams. Those past years have been when a weaker BSC team has gotten in, so it made more sense for them to meet up earlier rather than later. It's just like how Nova and JMU are meeting up already, but now i'm opening a can of worms.

Geography, regionalization and sheer number of teams all work against the BSC when it comes to scheduling, there's not much denying that. xpeacex

Works against us is right. Luckily we have a contract with UC-Davis and Cal Poly now. ANd I wouldn't be surprised to see one of those DUMB BCS games scheduled for the griz in the coming years.

Agreed 100% It would have been waaaaay to easy to shift two teams which would have allowed the possibility of two BSC teams to reach the semis. Not that WA-Griz needs any more excuses to be loud, but an all BSC Semi-Final game would be out of control if that ever happens in the future. xnodx
I guess we just have to succumb to this lame regionalization policy until it gets changed (yeah right that will happen xrolleyesx ).

xlolx It's kind of fun to go back with that perfect hindsight and see what everyone was saying. The gems I found in this thread:
Come back after the semis. If Montana/Weber can get to the finals, they can start talking ****.
WE BE TALKIN' MAD SHIZ UP IN HERE!!! Well, at least before the 2008 NC game. xwhistlex
we need to change the big sky like the caa with a "mountain" and a "coastal" division (add the great west). That way the best teams only play each every four years or so thus getting 5 teams in when other teams belong in the playoffs and say we're the "best" we got five teams in. And drop msu down to naia where they can win a few games and make the playoffs with carroll!
Consider it (almost) done. xhurrayx
I'd love to see W and M play Weber State. Maybe it'd get you to shut your trap.
xoopsx Well that one didn't work out so well in 2009.
But EWU in 2010.... suck it CAA!!!! xlolx
