View Full Version : USC Gets Atleast Rose Bowl Spot, BCS Title Game Still Possible

As I write this Oregon is rolling all over Oregon State which would send USc to the Rose Bowl.
However Oklahoma is only up by two on Oklahoma State and should State win, USC still has a decent shot at the BCS title game.
Texas would face Missouri in the Big XII title game, if Missouri wins that USC next week would likely jump Texas and either Florida or Alabama, whichever loses next weeks SEC title game, with an Oklahoma State win tonite USC would move past Oklahoma into fourth place.
EDIT: My bad, Texas Tech would play the Big XII title game. That makes it less possible for USC to make the title game :(

Oregon State can still go to the Rose Bowl if UCLA upsets USC next week. They would both be 7-2 in the pac 10 and OSU still would hold the tie breaker over them.

The BCS NC should be the SEC champ and one of those three teams from the Big XII south, depending on how the rest of the Big XII games go. USC does not deserve to go as bad as the Pac-10 is this year. If USC had beaten Oregon State I'd still say they don't deserve to go.

regardless of how weak or strong the Pac 10 is, USC is one of the best four teams in the country no question, and if you dont agree with that then you dont know football.

If Florida beats Alabama next week i believe the winner of the BCS Title game and the winner of the Rose Bowl should split the title.

In this scenerio is Penn St were to beat USC and Utah won its game Utah could claim a share of the title.

Did you see UCLA last night? ASU's defense was better than the UCLA offense!!

I certainly hope USC doesn't sleep walk into next week's game. A Penn State v. USC Rose Bowl would be a great matchup. I expect Floriday to beat Alabama next week. But the way Oklahoma moved the ball at-will tonight was amazing.xeekx

They may be one of the top 5 teams but they play a very padded schedule. Plus, most everyone wants to see a SEC vs. Big XII NC game this year.

Ohio State and obviously Oregon State - doesn't look to padded to me...

I want to see Florida v USC, or Oklahoma/Texas V USC. I'd also settle for a Florida V Oklahoma game

I either want to see the track meet that would be Oklahoma vs Florida or a matchup of the OU offense against 'Bama's defense.
Here's how I rank the FBS teams:
1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Florida
4. Texas
5. USC
6-120. Everybody Else

UCLA beats USC next week, Trojans go to the Holiday Bowl, Beavs still go to the Rose Bowl, as it is highly unlikely the Trojans would qualify for a BCS bearth in that case. It would be funny as the Ducks would still be the odd team out, even after smashing the Beavs, as the Sun Bowl has a "no return" clause and would take Arizona over the Ducks, pushing the Ducks to the fourth Pac-10 team (I believe the Emerald Bowl) as the Ducks played in the Sun Bowl last year.
Stanger things have happened, didn't Kansas beat Missouri today? And Cincinnati is guaranteed a BCS spot?

USC doesn't deserve it as much as OU, Texas, or Florida/Alabama. The Big XII South alone is better than the entire Pac 10 this year!

Texas should be ranked above OU because of the head to head (TT is removed from the equation due to their close Baylor win and OU blowout), but I feel OU is the better team at this point in the season.
No matter what, somebody is getting screwed!!!

I agree with Pattsle on this one.
Texas U. does deserve to be ahead of OU because of the head to head.
But because Mack Brown won't hang 60 or 70 on every team he plays, Texas stats won't look as good as OU's, which will give OU the edge.
**Just now found out that OU is now ranked above Texas in the BS Standings, which is utter BS. **
I like how they said a playoff system would never work for FBS football since the teams and fans would have to travel and not know who they would play until the other games had been decided. It's obvious that since that system works in D II and III, FCS and NFL football, that it would never work in FBS football. We can't actually allow the teams to control their own destiny, we have to let statistics decide who goes where.

Then FBS teams and their fans deserve the crap they get year after year after year. FCS all the way to NAIA has it right and will ALWAYS have it right. This is one thing they CANNOT take away from us and one thing that EATS AT THEM. Piss on them.

Every year the FBS tries to tweak its system, and every year it seems there are more questions. Conferences need championship games? How about Missouri having a shot at the Big 12 BCS bid. Conferences should not play championship games? USC has to win over UCLA, otherwise Oregon State, who just got blasted by their rival Oregon, will take the Pac-10 BCS bid. No right way to do it, unless you do it the FCS way and take 16 teams in one big playoff.
