Poly is playing from behind, something that they have not experienced often.

Every D Poly has played should know they are going to pass.
I meant that Weber doesn't really have to fear the option as much any more. They're free to double/scheme away Barden every down now.

It's not that, it's the record, ranking, and overall quality of wins. One game, no matter who it's against, shouldn't decide it. If the Griz went 10-2 with a win over weber, would you be making the same argument? xrolleyesx

Head to head....and outside of the Eastern game (which in all reality that game didn't matter), what Weber did was phenomenal this year.
And yes, if the griz would have won, they get the advantage to host the game, IMO. Its what you have done on the field. And their record this year was outstanding. Other than um going to Poly, what was the rest of your non-conf schedule compared to Weber?

They are a one-loss team in FCS. When um finally going to step up and play FBS competition? Those two games Weber had this year I think made them the tough team that they are. Since the griz can't seem to leave Wa-Griz for non-conf games, they basically can write their own ticket.....kinda like some SEC, Big XII teams....

Not arguing for Weber to get a home game, but Weber played up two games and was competitive. Montana played down one game and was competitive (and almost lost xlolx ). And that .500 team (now above .500) has a lot more talent and deserves a lot more respect than their record indicates, and you know it. xrulesx

I have a lot of respect for Montana and their fans. They're a great team and have a hell of a fan base (not like they have an NFL team over there or anything :p ).
I do wish however they'd play up more often and play tougher OOC games.

Montana played Cal Poly outside of Washington-Grizzly stadium. Besides the two FBS games, Weber state played a Divison II team and an NAIA team. I go to Montana Tech which is an NAIA team and that's an absolute embarrasment that an FCS team would schedule an NAIA team. Montana scheduled tough competion

Why am I coming in with sour grapes about SAC's record against um? It is what it is. We have chocked away three good chances in the series that we should have wins, but don't. That is irrelevant here and my season ended last Saturday. We are an up-and-coming program and look forward to finally getting that first victory against the griz next fall at Hornet Stadium.

Nope not at all, but a loss to a 6-5 the last game of the regular season is worse than a loss to an 8-3 three or four games into the season in the eyes of the selection committee.
I saw what EWU is capable of last year in KBS, they just didn't meet expectations this season. I don't know the details of why, injuries or other outside factors, but I know they were favorites to challenge for a playoff spot but didn't put it all together for whatever reason.

Fair enough.
Injuries were a big part of it... we were without our starting MLB and a couple others on D for more than a couple games, but when it comes down to it, I think the coaching change really did ****** us over. Baldwin's philosophy is to be an evenly-balanced run/pass team. We're not that. We have two all-star quality receivers (plus 3 more very solid WRs), and a Payton award capable QB... we're a passing team. Do what works, and for us that's passing. Luckily, we have most of our WRs and Matt Nichols back for next year, and a young O-line with a year of experience under their belt.

Didn't know the whole story, figured injuries had to play some role. Just remember Nichols and a potent passing attack (and piss poor ASU special teams) but thought with the young talent returning your boys would be a force to be reckoned with. Hope they can get it turned back in the right direction. FCS needs more regional balance, somebody has to take that 4th at large bid out of the hands of the CAA.

Congrats to Weber St. Never in my three years here at Poly have I ever heard the student section so quiet. The Weber St. band (all 12 that showed up) put out more noise than the Poly fans. The poly defense gave us nothing to cheer about with weber scoring on basically every drive. Would get all rowdy on every third down just to give up a big play and continue moving the chains. Came back to poly early from thanksgiving break just to watch dally have his worst game of his career. It seemed as if every throw he put up was a prayer. Ramses is not our offense, our running game is. We got away from that and that was our downfall. We got behind early and were forced to play throw it to ramses and see wut happens. And wut happened was 4 dally ints and a 49-35 loss.
by the way if it weren't for a (bull****) fumble on the 5 Poly would have lost 56-35.
and our kicker Gardner was 5-5 on pat, freakin kickers

and two thumbs down for our corners this game. One pass deflection all night. Watched our corners give wrs 10 yrd cushions four consecutive third and short. Then get up on the line of scrimmage and NOT JAM the wr at the line and let them run right by them for huge gains. Thought the kicking game was our weak link but damn our pass defense tonight was down right pitiful. Once again congrats Weber, u have me rooting for u to go all the way.

Thanks for the love, but our destiny was in our own hands. The Wildcats gifted Montana the seed and home field advantage by losing to Eastern Washington. Now we've got to beat 'em at their house. No problem, if the same lads show up in Missoula next weekend who showed up at San Luis Obispo. xsmiley_wix

The problem for opponents is that Weber has 7-8 offensive threats, not just 2-3, like most teams. xnodx
Key on Smith, ball goes to Toone. Key on Toone, ball goes to Mike Phillips. Key on Mike, ball goes... great coverage everywhere and Higgins is open to run for a first down.

I agree. The running game was working and the best part is if you are running the ball you are eating the clock and keeping Weber's offense on the sideline and we definately needed to keep them on the sideline as much as possible.

Yeah just what I was thinking. Too much forcing the ball in the passing game. You guys had the game in control when the ball was on the ground.

My heart goes out to our kicker. Gardiner's has gotta have his head spinning right now
What the heck are all the Poly fans whining about? xconfusedx
Gardiner finished tied for fifteenth in the nation for kick scoring points. xthumbsupx
Sure, he does not have the greatest range, but he was a respectable 70% in the red zone which is where the kickers really count. Anything outside the red zone is gravy. If you are having to make a lot of kicks from outside the red zone, then the kicker is not really the problem, eh?!??

He's solely responsible for both of CP's losses in the regular season... PAT's and FGs from the redzone that were missed.
He'd probably be first or second in the nation for kick scoring points if he made all of his...

He missed a 27 yard field goal which is 7 yards longer than a PAT to NOT win versus Montana and three PATs (20 yards) versus Wisconsin. If he made just one of those PATs in Wisconsin during the game there would not have been the opportunity to miss a PAT in overtime -- the Mustangs would have won in regulation.
Andrew Gardner did come back and put five straight PATs down the middle versus Weber State in the first round of the playoffs.

I know this. So you're agreeing with me...

That would be yes four times -- one for each of the aforementioned missed kicks -- and I saw all of them !!!

Why the misses? Any bad snaps? Any missed blocking assignments? Did he have a low trajectory that was easy to block? He got good altitude on the kicks I saw versus Weber. xconfusedx

Same time next year. Good luck on your run.
Thank you, 'dude! It's a shame that all three western powerhouses aren't playing in the second round! xoopsx

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Let's say he makes all his kicks and Poly goes undefeated. They would be the #1 seed, who would Poly have played? If everything else went the same way, I see exactly the same matchups. UM probably would not have been seeded, but they would have played Tx. St since they could not play Weber in the 1st and Weber most likely would have had to travel to Poly still. Tough luck all around.

Seems to me that the opponents would have had a good chance of being reversed. Texas State would have still had to travel but instead to Cal Poly and Montana would end up with the perceived tougher opponent Weber State.
I saw every one of his misses and there were no major problems with the holder getting the snap down.
