What year did the Northeast conference join the ranks of what was at the time I-AA

1996 was the first year of NEC football.


Original members were:
Monmouth
St. Francis
Central Conn.
Robert Morris
Wagner

Albany and Stony Brook joined as affiliates when they moved to DI in 1999.

Duquesne joined this year. And Bryant is in transition and will become a full NEC member in 2012 I believe.
