One of the SCSU alums on here warned us about Will Ford, and they were right - he is the real deal, and had a great performance. SCSU brought a good game plan to Boone today with a potent mix of pass and run with good defensive pressure. It seemed like ASU stepped up the defensive effort in the second half somewhat, but the 'dawgs still got their yardage.

Gotta tell you, Long is the biggest QB I think I've ever seen. I thought it was just rib protectors under that jersey until I saw that he may have had a really good Thanksgiving. xlolx

Just got back from the game.

SCSU played a great game. App did too. The outcome was in doubt for longer than I preferred. SCSU's D was quick enough to give App fits. Their O had a great game plan too.

I heard your Coach's interview at halftime say that SCSU proved that they belonged in the playoffs & he was right about that. He also said they had a ways to go, but that next time they wanted to go further in the playoffs. If they keep playing like they did today, they will.

Armanti played great too. I like Coach Pough's description of him as "lightning in a bottle". Yep, that's about right.

SCSU did a pretty good job of containing AE on the scramble and pressured him better than everyone else we played this year (except LSU). Of course, being AE he got loose and made some big plays (there was one scramble in particular that I am thinking of when he turned nothing into a first down pass with his legs). We did a good job adjusting to the rush by dropping off short passes into the opening left by the blitzing linebackers and got good yardage (and did much better controlling the game) after we figured that out,

I was sitting up behind where SCSU's offense sat after they came off the field to discuss their series with their coaches. Their line was consistently fired up and ready to get after it which I think accounts for their success running the football.

Our special teams play continues to be shaky and the blocked punt that was converted into a TD coul have been huge. I feel like we got a good win against a good team today, but we need to play better if we are going to beat a team like Richmond.

We certainly threw the ball well today. But I agree that they stopped AE's rushing better than most teams, and they also pressured him into making some very dumb (and uncharacteristic) plays. I agree that we have to play better from here on out. SCSU was a quality team that could have beat at least a couple of others in the field of 16. I felt bad for them drawing us in the first round until they pulled that BS with the timeouts at the last second. Of course, they did get punished for that ;)
